California Baptist Lancers Betting Preview
It’s been a choppy year for the Lancers so far, but they’ve got some pretty good wins in the books. Cal Baptist opened things up on an 8-7 run with losses to UC Riverside, Northern Colorado, SMU, UCF, San Diego State, Middle Tennessee, and UC Irvine, then hit a 1-3 stretch that included losses to Utah Valley (twice) and Tarleton State. Since then it’s been an up-and-down 4-3 run for the Lancers. Cal Baptist has wins over Southern Utah, Abilene Christian, Grand Canyon, and Utah Tech in that time alongside losses to Southern Utah, Texas Arlington, and Grand Canyon otherwise. That gives Cal Baptist an even 13-13 record through their first 26 outings of the season so far.Â
In their road rematch with Grand Canyon on Saturday, the Lancers came out of halftime with a 41-30 deficit. Cal Baptist hit the gas in the second on a 34-25 advantage but couldn’t finish it off in a tough loss of 66-64. Kendal Coleman led the team with 24 points and seven rebounds in 32 minutes of work. The only other player on the team to finish in double-figures was Martel Williams with 19 points, three steals, one rebound, and one assist in 35 minutes of work.Â
Seattle Redhawks Betting Preview
Over on the Seattle side, they’ve had some rough times this year and it’s resulted in a record pretty far below the .500 mark overall. The Redhawks were 8-10 at the 18-game mark after taking losses to Eastern Washington, Liberty, Cal Poly, Furman, Duke, UTEP, Western Kentucky, UIC, Nicholls and Cal Baptist. Since then Seattle has only beaten Tarleton State and Texas Arlington. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Texas Arlington, Utah Valley, Grand Canyon, Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, and Utah Valley in that time. In total that gives the Redhawks a 10-16 record across the first 26 outings of the 2024-25 campaign.Â
Matched up against Utah Valley in their road rematch on Saturday, the Redhawks posted a 30-26 advantage in the first half. Seattle was outscored 35-25 the rest of the way, however, and ended up losing 61-55 in the end. Leading the charge was Paris Dawson, who came off the bench as the only player on the team to finish in double-digits with 18 points and three rebounds in 33 minutes. Kobe Williamson led the starters with eight points with seven boards and two assists in 28 minutes during the losing effort as well.
Why the Seattle Redhawks will win
- The home team has won 11 of Seattle’s last 12 games.
- California Baptist has lost each of its last three games at Redhawk Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.
- California Baptist has lost the first half in 12 of its last 16 night games against Conference opponents.
Why the California Baptist Lancers will win
- Seattle has lost five of its last six night games against the Western Athletic Conference.
Cal Baptist vs Seattle PredictionÂ
I’ll stay with Cal Baptist in this one. The Lancers are coming off a tough road loss to a good Grand Canyon team, shooting 43.4 percent from the field with a 33-25 rebounding deficit. It was a pretty sloppy game on both sides, with Cal Baptist posting 16 of the game’s 33 total turnovers for 21 Antelopes points on the other side. The Lancers have been on a choppy 2-2 run over their last four outings, but they’ve scored 79 or more points in three of those.Â
These teams last saw each other back on January 4 in a tight 61-59 home win for the Lancers. Each team committed 13 turnovers and shot pretty miserably from 3-point range in that one. Anything could happen in the rematch, but I think Cal Baptist has a slight advantage.Â
