Army Black Knights Betting Preview
Last season’s Black Knights team was a pretty major improvement over the 2023-24 product, when the school went just 10-22 overall. In the 2024-25 run, Army went 17-16 overall with a 10-8 stretch in the Patriot League. That left the Knights tied with four other teams but behind Bucknell, American, Colgate, Boston U and Navy in the standings. After a rough 1-4 run to finish off the regular season, the Knights fell in the first game of the Patriot League Tournament to Colgate. Army would get a bid in the CBI, where they took out Elon ahead of a season-ending loss to Florida Gulf Coast in the second round on March 24.
This year Army kicked off their season with a matchup versus SUNY Maritime. The Knights were up 36-27 by the end of the first half, then rode a 37-22 run on the way to a blowout win 73-47. Topping the scorers on the team was Kevin McCarthy with 18 points and three boards. Jackson Furman added 17 points with three rebounds, and Jacen Holloway put up 13 points, three rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes during the victory effort.
St. Thomas MN Tommies Betting Preview
Over on the St. Thomas side, they had quite a nice season in 2024-25 but it ended in disappointment. The Tommies managed to go 24-10 overall (an improvement by four games over their 20-13 run a season prior) with a 12-4 run in the Summit League. That was good enough for second place behind only Omaha. St. Thomas closed the regular season on a 4-2 run then beat Denver and North Dakota in the Summit League Tournament. In the championship game however, the Tommies took a 10-point loss to Omaha to end their year.
In their opening game of the 2025-26 campaign, St. Thomas had a tricky road matchup versus Saint Mary’s. The Tommies were down 35-25 by the break and didn’t get any better in the second half on a 49-33 run on the way to an 84-58 loss. Leading the scorers during the losing effort was Nolan Minessale with 24 points, five rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes. Nick Janowski also finished in double-digits with 14 points in 30 minutes of work in the loss.

Army vs St. Thomas MN Prediction
I’m going to lean toward taking a stab on St. Thomas MN but I’m not touching this one. The Tommies had an ugly game versus Saint Mary’s in their opener despite shooting a respectable 46.3 percent from the field and holding a 38-32 advantage in the paint alongside just nine turnovers. The problems were rebounding (a 40-21 deficit), 3-pointers (5-of-21 for 23.8 percent) and free throws (3-of-10), not to mention the Gaels’ hot shooting (50.9 percent). The Tommies should match up a lot better in game two.
As for Army, they didn’t shoot great against SUNY Maritime (39.2 percent) but owned the boards (41-31) and the paint (34-14). Saturday’s matchup should be a pretty good one, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a highly competitive game here. It’ll be a fun watch, but I like the Tommies to pull off the cover in the end.
