Over on the Central Florida side, their year opened up on a great clip. The Knights kicked things off on an excellent 14-2 stretch, only taking losses to Vanderbilt on November 8 and Oklahoma State on January 6 during that time. UCF has since gone 1-2 though, falling to Arizona and Iowa State before a win over Colorado. In 19 games so far the Knights have managed a 15-4 overall run in the books.

Matched up against Colorado on Saturday the Knights were in the locker room at halftime with a 49-47 edge. Central Florida kept it up from there, hitting a 46-39 run on the way to a 95-86 victory on the road. Riley Kugel was the leading team scorer with 22 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Themus Fulks had 19 points with eight assists and three rebounds in the winning effort.

I like Central Florida in this one. The Knights are coming off a nice road win over a pretty good Colorado team last weekend. In that one Central Florida hit a stellar 61.1 percent from the field and 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from outside along with a 32-22 advantage on the boards. UCF gave up 51.8 percent shooting on defense however, and committed 12 turnovers along the way. The Knights are just 1-2 in their last three games, but both losses came to top-ten teams in Arizona and Iowa State.

As for Arizona State, they got a much-needed win over a middling Cincinnati squad in a home matchup this past weekend. The Sun Devils put up 47.4 percent from the field and 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from outside in that one, but also gave up 45 percent on the other side. That makes a 2-7 run over the last nine games for Arizona State, and they’ve got another tough road matchup coming in this one.
