Fairfield Looks to Bounce Back
Fairfield faced off against Sacred Heart in the last game and they didn’t play well enough. Fairfield scored 71 points, but the defense gave up 77 points and that led to the defeat. The defense gave up 44 points in the second half. Prophet Johnson put up 18 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist. There were three different players that put up at least 11 points. Two games ago against Marist, the defense gave up only 56 points and they ended up winning by three points.
Fairfield comes into this game with a 9-15 record overall and they have gone 10-13 against the spread. Away from home this season they have gone 2-9 straight up. Fairfield is averaging 68.2 points while their defense is giving up 73.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 314th in the league while the defense is ranked 247th. Prophet Johnson is averaging 11.2 points while shooting 44.3 percent from the field.
Why Fairfield will beat Saint Peter's
- Saint Peter's has lost each of its last seven night games against Conference opponents.
Saint Peter’s is Struggling
Saint Peter’s is really struggling heading into this game and they have lost five games in a row. Two games ago against Siena, they lost 73-66, and in the last game against Manhattan, they lost 84-83. In the last game, they were able to force overtime, but they couldn’t make the plays late and they ended up losing by one point. Marcus Randolph put up 24 points, two rebounds, and one assist. In this game, getting out to a faster start is going to need to be key.
Saint Peter’s overall record is 7-13, and they have gone 9-10 against the spread. The over has hit in 10 of the 19 games. Saint Peter’s is averaging 68.8 points while their defense is giving up 65.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 348th in the league, while the defense is ranked 38th. In this game, they need to find a way to get some defense going. Marcus Randolph is averaging 14.9 points while shooting 38.6 percent from the field. There are two different players that are averaging at least 10 points per game.
Why Saint Peter's Will Beat Fairfield
- Fairfield has lost five of its last six road games against Conference opponents.
- Saint Peter's has won four of its last five home games after coming off overtime.
- Saint Peter's has won the first half in six of its last seven night games at Yanitelli Center.
Fairfield vs Saint Peter’s Prediction
This total is a little too high. Neither team has been known for their offense, and that is going to be the case again. Saint Peter’s is giving up 65.8 points per game, and they are going to step up in a major way here. Fairfield isn’t exactly known for their defense, but they are going to step up in a major way here, and Saint Peter’s offense is going to have issues getting anything going here. Both offenses are going to be a problem and the under is going to end up cashing here. This is one of my favorite plays of the entire card for Friday.
