Loyola MD Greyhounds Betting Preview
This year the Greyhounds have been a mixed bag in the record column, and it’s resulted in a sub-.500 mark thus far. Loyola MD went 5-4 over their first nine outings, beating Lancaster Bible College, NJIT, VMI, Coppin State, and Mount St. Mary’s. A 3-5 stretch came next with wins over Lehigh, Navy, and Lehigh again mixed with losses to Hampton, DePaul, only Cross, Army, and American U. After three more losses to Lafayette, Holy Cross, and Bucknell the Greyhounds have since taken wins over Boston U and Lafayette. That gives Loyola MD a 10-12 overall record through their first 22 games of the 2024-25 season.Â
In the Lafayette road rematch on Wednesday, the Greyhounds held a six-point edge by halftime. Loyola MD finished off strong with a 37-30 stretch and took the victory 71-58 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Milos Ilic with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Tyson Commander came off the bench for 16 points, six boards, two assists, and two steals in 30 minutes of work, while both Jacob Theodosiou and Jordan Stiemke chipped in 10 points apiece with a combined eight rebounds and six assists.Â
Colgate Raiders Betting Preview
Over on the Colgate side, they didn’t get off to a good start this year, but they’ve been better lately. The Raiders hit a rough 2-9 opening stretch with losses to Drexel, Syracuse, NC State, Harvard, App State, Sam Houston, Cornell, Northeastern and Kentucky in that time. After a 2-2 run with wins over Vermont and Army among losses to Iona and Bucknell, Colgate beat Lehigh, Boston U, Navy, Lafayette, and Bucknell in the next five. Losses to American U, Army, Lafayette, and Lehigh have come in the last four games, however. The result so far has been a 9-15 overall record for the Raiders in their first 24 outings of the season.Â
Matched up against Lehigh in the road rematch on Monday, the Raiders hit a 42-37 deficit in the first half. Colgate was blitzed 52-31 the rest of the way and ended up falling in blowout fashion 94-68. Leading the team in scoring during the defeat were Jeff Woodward (starter) with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Jalen Cox (bench) with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Parker Jones chipped in 12 points with three rebounds off the bench as well.Â

Loyola MD vs Colgate PredictionÂ
I’ll lean toward Loyola MD. There’s not a ton of intrigue involved in this matchup, though. The Greyhounds didn’t play too badly against Lafayette in their latest win, hitting 43.8 percent from the field with 37 rebounds and just six turnovers. The Greyhounds scored 12 points off 14 Leopards turnovers as well, which really helped their cause. Loyola MD has 69 or more points in consecutive games now, which follows three straight with fewer than 68 points scored.Â
As for Colgate, they’ve been giving up a lot of points during this four-game losing streak: 76 or more in all four and 81 or more in three of those. The Raiders can score well when they want to, however, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see this one finish as a high total. I like Loyola MD to power it out in the end, though.Â
