Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview
Things have been a bit choppy for the Jayhawks since mid-January or so, but overall they’ve been a pretty consistent team. Kansas won their first seven games of the year, then hit a 2-3 stretch with losses to Creighton, Missouri, and West Virginia among wins over NC State and Brown. Following a three-game win streak over Central Florida, Arizona State, and Cincinnati the Jayhawks hit a 2-2 run with losses to Iowa State and Houston around wins versus Kansas State and TCU. It’s been a 2-1 run for Kansas since then. The lone loss in that time was to Baylor, sandwiched between wins over UCF and Iowa State for a 16-6 overall run so far.
Matched up against Iowa State on Monday, the Jayhawks left the locker room with a 35-19 edge. Kansas kept it steady in the second half on a 34-33 run and took the eventual win 69-52 in the end. Leading team scorer Zeke Mayo posted 17 points with eight boards and three assists. Hunter Dickinson put up 14 points with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Dajuan Harris added 12 points with four boards and four assists in 35 minutes of work.Â
Kansas State Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Wildcats’ side, they had a rough stretch in December and January but have really picked it up since then. Kansas State beat New Orleans, Cleveland State, Mississippi Valley State, George Washington, Longwood, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their first eight outings. A rough 1-9 run came next with a lone win over Cincinnati amid losses to St. John’s, Drake, Wichita State, TCU, Oklahoma State, Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Baylor. Since then it’s been four straight wins, however. The Wildcats have taken out West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and Arizona State in that quartet for an 11-11 overall record through 22 outings.Â
In the Arizona State road matchup on Tuesday, the Wildcats hit a 35-32 advantage in the first half. Kansas State was outpaced 38-36 from there but held on for the win 71-70 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was David N’Guessan with 22 points, eight boards, and 36 minutes of action. Max Jones added 15 points with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, and Brendan Hausen had 12 points with four rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes.Â

Kansas vs Kansas State PredictionÂ
I’ll lean toward Kansas State. You could make a case the other way, though. The Wildcats are coming off a tight road victory versus Arizona State, hitting 46.6 percent from the field while holding the Sun Devils to 38.6 percent on the other side. Kansas State also held a 38-34 rebounding advantage but did cough up 11 turnovers for 14 Arizona State points. During this four-game win streak, Kansas State has scored quite well. They’ve got 71 or more points in each outing.Â
The last time these teams met up was back on January 18 in an 84-74 home win for the Jayhawks. Kansas State gave up 55.4 percent shooting and got out-rebounded 35-25 in that one, but didn’t play too badly otherwise. I like the Wildcats to power one out at home in the rematch and get a little revenge. Should be a fun one to watch regardless.Â
