South Carolina Upstate Spartans Betting Preview
The 2024-25 campaign has been quite a struggle for USC Upstate so far. The wins have been few and far between. The Spartans opened on a 4-8 stretch with losses to NC State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, UNC Wilmington, East Tennessee State, Queens U, Iowa, and Coastal Carolina in that time. USC Upstate has won just once (versus Presbyterian) since December 7. Otherwise, it’s been losses to South Carolina, South Carolina State, Youngstown State, Winthrop, Radford, UNC Asheville, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Longwood, Charleston Southern, and Radford again, giving the team a 5-19 overall run through 24 games so far.
In the road rematch versus Radford on Saturday, the Spartans went into the second half with a 10-point deficit in tow. USC Upstate kept the pace on a 40-40 run from there but eventually lost 79-69 in the end. Leading the team in the losing effort with 28 minutes off the bench and 16 points was Brit Harris. Tops among starters was Carmelo Adkins with 14 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Karmani Gregory added 11 points with three rebounds as well.
Presbyterian Blue Hose Betting Preview
Over on the Presbyterian side, they came into the season on a decent run but they’ve struggled since then as well. The Hose lost to only Charlotte, NC State, and Kennesaw State in their first eight games, then hit a 2-5 stretch featuring losses to Tennessee Tech, Florida A&M, Miami, Manhattan, and South Carolina from there. Following a win over Longwood it’s been a 1-7 run with a lone win over Charleston Southern. Otherwise, the losses have come versus Gardner-Webb, USC Upstate, UNC Asheville, High Point, Radford, Winthrop, and High Point again, giving the Hose a 9-15 record in their first 24 games of the year.
In Saturday’s home rematch versus High Point, Presbyterian had an ugly 46-31 deficit by the break. The Hose got better after that on a 41-38 run but still lost by double-digits 84-72 in the end. Presbyterian’s Kory Mincy had 24 points with three rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while Jamahri Harvey added 17 points with three rebounds in 37 minutes. Jaylen Peterson had eight points off the bench as well.

USC Upstate vs Presbyterian Prediction
I’m going to try Presbyterian. There’s not much to get excited about in this one, but it should be a competitive matchup. The Hose gave up a whopping 60.4 percent shooting in their latest loss to a good High Point team over the weekend, but they stayed competitive on the boards and had just six turnovers. The 38.7 percent shooting didn’t help, though. Presbyterian has given up 76 or more points in three straight games now—all losses.
These teams last met up back on January 8 in a 77-67 road loss for the Hose. Presbyterian gave up 50.9 percent shooting in that one and had 13 turnovers for 15 Spartans points. In this home rematch the Hose need to up that shooting percentage while minimizing mistakes. With the comfortable environment, I think Presbyterian has a good shot but I’m not touching this one.
Andrew’s Pick Presbyterian Blue Hose -6.5
