Rhode Island Rams Betting Preview
The Rams kicked off the season on a great run but they’ve been pretty choppy since early December. Fordham beat Fairfield, Holy Cross, Franklin Pierce, Lafayette, Charleston, Detroit, Texas Arlington, Yale, and Providence in their first nine games, then hit a 5-4 run. Those wins were over Central Connecticut, Temple, George Mason, Richmond, and Davidson. The losses otherwise came courtesy of Brown, Duquesne, George Washington, and Loyola Chicago. Since then it’s been losses to VCU and La Salle ahead of a win over UMass, giving the Rams a 15-6 overall record through the first 21 games of the 2024-25 season.
In the UMass matchup last Wednesday, the Rams hit a 46-38 opening run in the first half. Rhode Island finished off with a 44-42 deficit, hanging on for the victory 88-82 in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the win was Sebastian Thomas with 22 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. David Green added 18 points and four rebounds, while Jaden House had 19 points, six rebounds, one assists, and three turnovers in 31 minutes of work on the court.
Fordham Rams Betting Preview
Over on the Fordham side, they were doing pretty well up until late December. Since then the Rams have hit the skids with only a couple of wins, though. Fordham took out Seton Hall, Binghamton, Georgian Court, New Hampshire, Fairleigh Dickinson, Maine, Bryant, and Albany during an 8-5 start. Losses piled up versus Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, VCU, Davidson, UMass, and Loyola Chicago in the next six games. After consecutive wins over Duquesne and La Salle, Fordham took another loss to St. Bonaventure over the weekend. The result so far has been a 10-12 overall run through the Rams’ first 22 outings.
Matched up against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, the Rams were outscored 40-29 in the first half. Fordham fought back valiantly from there on a 43-34 advantage but it wasn’t enough in a loss 74-72. Jackie Johnson was the team’s top scorer with 20 points, three assists, two steals and one rebound. Japhet Medor added 18 points with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Joshua Rivera came off the bench for 12 points and three rebounds in 23 minutes.

Why the Rhode Island Rams will win

- Rhode Island has won the first half in three of its last four games against Fordham.
Rhode Island vs Fordham Prediction
I’ll take a stab at Fordham. You could probably call this one either way, though. The Rams were pretty permissive on defense to a good St. Bonaventure team in their last outing, surrendering 55.8 percent shooting in a two-point defeat. The good news is that Fordham got it going in the second half and eventually shot 48.2 percent from the field themselves alongside 29 rebounds and 15 team assists. That said, the loss prevents an official winning streak, even though Fordham has scored 72 or more points in consecutive outings.
As for Rhode Island, they shot well (56.6 percent) in their win over UMass last week but did give up 17 points off 15 turnovers in an overall sloppy game. If Fordham can keep the scoring honest in Wednesday’s matchup I think they can get into a tight cover. I’m probably avoiding this one though; it seems like it could go either way.
