Texas-Arlington Mavericks Betting Preview
The Mavericks had a pretty solid run going back in December, but other than that it’s been a struggle so far this year. Texas Arlington opened on a 4-6 run through their first 10 outings, taking losses to Louisiana Tech, USC, Missouri State, Murray State, Rhode Island, and Arkansas State during that time. A 3-1 run came next, featuring a lone loss to Liberty among wins over Louisiana Monroe, Evansville, and Texas State. Since then it’s been a 1-4 skid for the Mavericks. They lost to Tarleton State, Utah Tech, Southern Utah, and Utah Valley in succession before a win over Seattle, giving them an 8-11 overall run through the first 19 games so far.
In the Seattle U matchup on Thursday, the Mavericks held a dominant 40-24 edge by the end of the first half. Texas Arlington was outpaced 32-25 the rest of the way but held on for the win 65-56 in the end. Leading the team during the victory was Jaden Wells with 14 points, two assists, and two steals. Darius Burford added 13 points with seven rebounds, and Lance Ware doubled up with 12 points and 10 boards alongside three blocks.
Abilene Christian Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Abilene Christian side, they entered the year on a reasonable run through the first 13 games, but they’ve fallen on hard times since then. The Wildcats hit an 8-5 record in that time, beating Howard Payne, McMurry, Texas State, Southern Miss, Omaha, New Mexico State, Hardin-Simmons, and Texas Southern along the way. Abilene Christian likewise hit a rough losing streak recently, falling to Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin, Utah Valley, Seattle U, Grand Canyon, and Cal Baptist before finally stopping the bleeding with a win over Tarleton State. The result so far has been a 9-11 overall run through 19 games for the Wildcats.
Matched up against Tarleton State in their Thursday outing, the Wildcats headed into the second half with a 39-29 edge. Abilene Christian stayed in front the rest of the way on a 28-27 run and took the eventual victory 67-56. Leonardo Bettiol led the team with 15 points, three boards, and three assists. Texas Arlington vs Abilene Christian Prediction
I’ll stay with Texas Arlington. There’s not a lot to get excited about in this game unless you’re a fan of either team, but it should at least be competitive. The Mavericks didn’t shoot very well (38.6 percent) in their last win over Seattle U, and they committed 11 turnovers along the way as well. Still, the rebounding (41) and assists (17) were solid totals in a much-needed victory. Texas Arlington has been below 69 points in three of the last four games though, so it’d be nice to see them eclipse the 70-point mark in this one.
As for Abilene Christian, they’re not scoring so great lately themselves with fewer than 68 points in seven straight games. Scoring-wise this matchup could go a lot of different ways, but ultimately I like Texas-Arlington to pull it off.
