Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview
The Rebels have been quite the reliable team all season, but they’re currently sitting on their first pair of consecutive losses so far. Ole Miss opened on a 15-2 run with losses to only Purdue and Memphis. Otherwise, it was wins over LIU, Grambling, South Alabama, Colorado State, Oral Roberts, BYU, Louisville, Lindenwood, Southern Miss, Southern, Queens U, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, and Alabama in that time. The last two games have both been losses for Ole Miss, however. After falling versus Mississippi State and Texas A&M in consecutive outings, the Rebels now sit at 15-4 overall on the year through the first 19 games.
Matched up against Texas A&M on Wednesday, the Rebels came out of halftime sporting a 33-26 advantage. Ole Miss was outscored 37-29 from there, however, resulting in a tough loss 63-62. Sean Pedulla led the scoring with his 16 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Both Malik Dia and Jaylen Murray added 12 points apiece, combing for six rebounds. Jaemyn Brakefield led the bench scorers with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Missouri Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the Missouri side, they’ve had a similarly successful season, with only one spotty three-game stretch so far. The Tigers opened on a 10-1 run with wins over Howard, Eastern Washington, MS Valley State, Pacific, AR-Pine Bluff, Lindenwood, Cal, Kansas, LIU, and Jacksonville State after an opener loss to Memphis. Losses to Illinois and Auburn (with a win over Alabama State) came in the next three games. Following wins over LSU, Vanderbilt, Florida, and Arkansas in the next quartet, Missouri took another loss to Texas which dropped their record to 15-4 through the first 19 games of the year as well.
In their Texas game on Tuesday, the Tigers held a 32-25 deficit at the break. Missouri didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 29-28 run and took the loss 61-53 in the end. Tops in scoring during the losing effort was Tamar Bates, the only player on the team to finish in double-figures with 10 points, one rebound and one assist. Both Trent Pierce (two rebounds) and Anthony Robinson (one rebound; one assist) finished with eight points each.
Why the Missouri Tigers will win
- Ole Miss has lost each of its last seven day games against AP-ranked opponents.
- Missouri has won each of its last six games at Mizzou Arena when playing with a rest advantage.
- Ole Miss has lost the first half in four of its last five day games against the Southeastern Conference.
Why the Ole Miss Rebels will win
- Missouri has lost 22 of its last 26 games against Conference opponents.
- Ole Miss has won five of its last six day games against Missouri.
Ole Miss vs Missouri Prediction
I’ll try Ole Miss in this one. You could obviously make a case either way, though; this should be one of the more intriguing matchups of the Saturday college basketball slate. The Rebels posted some pretty rough stats against Texas A&M in their latest loss though, shooting just 36.9 percent from the field with a 48-31 rebounding deficit and 13 turnovers. The 14 points off 20 Aggies turnovers were helpful, though. Ole Miss had scored 73 or more points in four straight games prior to that.
As for Missouri, they shot a rough 31.3 percent from the field and got outmuscled on the boards 39-31 in their latest loss to Texas. The Tigers had put up 75 or more points in four straight prior to that (all wins) so if both teams can bounce back from their respective losses we’ll have a high-scoring finish. I like Ole Miss to power it out in the end, though.
