Dartmouth Big Green Betting Preview

The Big Green didn’t start out the season on an outright terrible run, but overall they’ve had more rough stretches than smooth so far. Dartmouth’s first seven outings were a 4-3 record, thanks to wins over Vermont State Lyndon, Sacred Heart, Boston College, and New Hampshire. The losses otherwise during that opening stretch were against Albany, Boston U, and Marist. The Green would then hit a 0-4 run featuring losses to UIC, Notre Dame, UMass Lowell, and Le Moyne in succession. Dartmouth recovered with wins over Vermont, Colby Sawyer, and Pennsylvania in their next trio, but since then they’ve fallen to Princeton and Yale in consecutive outings. That makes a 7-9 overall record for the Big Green this year so far.

In the Yale matchup on Monday, the Big Green came out of the break with a 41-37 deficit. Dartmouth didn’t end up getting any closer than that, ultimately falling 83-67 after a 42-30 second half. Leading the team in scoring was Ryan Cornish with 16 points, five boards, and two assists. Jackson Munro added 13 points with six boards and two assists as the only other player on the team to finish in double-figures during the loss.

Brown Bears Betting Preview

Over on the Brown side, they came out of the gate this year with a pretty nice run over their first 10 games. Since then, however, the Bears have gone just 2-4 over their last six outings. Brown lost to Siena, Maine, and Holy Cross in that initial 10-game stretch. The wins otherwise came versus New Hampshire, Sacred Heart, Canisius, Stony Brook, Vermont, Bryant, and Rhode Island. Since then Brown has wins over only Johnson & Wales RI and Cornell. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Kansas, Kentucky, Yale, and Harvard, giving the Bears an overall record of 9-7 through their first 16 games of the 2024-25 season so far.

Matched up against Cornell in their Monday outing, the Bears held a 49-43 deficit in the locker room. Brown got better from there on a 40-33 run, however, eventually powering out the comeback victory 83-82 in dramatic fashion. Aaron Cooley led the charge with 28 points, seven rebounds, and one assist. Landon Lewis added 17 points with five rebounds as well. Tops in bench scoring was Lyndel Erold with his 11 points and three rebounds in 18 minutes.

Why the Brown Bears will win

  • Dartmouth has lost each of its last 12 road games against Conference opponents.
  • Brown has won each of its last six games against Dartmouth at Pizzitola Sports Center.
  • Brown has won the first half in six of its last seven games against Dartmouth.

Why the Dartmouth Big Green will win

  • Brown has lost each of its last three home day games against the Ivy League.

Dartmouth vs Brown Prediction

I’m going to stick with Brown. There’s not a lot to get excited about here, though. The Bears do get credit for a nice comeback win over Cornell in their last outing. Brown shot 55.2 percent from the field with just six turnovers in that one. That said, Brown also gave up 64.7 percent shooting on the other side and got out-rebounded 27-25. Still, it was a much-needed win after a 1-4 skid that threatened to drop the Bears below .500 in the coming games.

As for Dartmouth, they’ve been scoring pretty well lately with 73 or more points in six of the last seven games (a 3-4 stretch). The Green are giving up some decent totals to solid offenses though, so Brown will have an opportunity to notch a nice total in this one—if they can execute.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Brown Bears -5.5
