Lafayette Leopards Betting Preview
The Leopards were able to maintain a .500 clip during the early part of the season, but they’ve fallen on hard times since mid-December or so. Lafayette took out Penn, Rosemont, Long Island U, Niagara, and Mercyhurst during a 5-5 stretch over the first 10 outings. Otherwise, it was losses to Villanova, La Salle, Cornell, Rode Island, and Binghamton. Since then the Leopards are just 2-7, beating only Boston U and Holy Cross. Otherwise, it’s been losses to George Washington, Portland, Stonehill, Navy, Bucknell, Army, and Colgate during that time, giving Lafayette a 7-12 overall record through their first 19 outings of the season so far.
In the Colgate matchup over the weekend, the Leopards held a 51-30 deficit by halftime. Lafayette didn’t end up getting any closer than that, posting a 39-37 run the rest of the way during a 90-67 blowout loss. Andrew Phillips led the team in the losing effort with his 18 points and seven rebounds with two steals. Justin Vander Baan added 17 points with six boards, three assists, three blocks, and two steals, while Alex Chaikin chipped in 12 points with three steals, two assists, and one rebound in 36 minutes of work on the floor.
Loyola MD Greyhounds Betting Preview
Over on the Loyola MD side, they’ve had quite the choppy season themselves. The Greyhounds opened on a 5-4 run but have since been unable to keep their heads above .500 since then. The victories during that opening phase came versus Lancaster Bible College, NJIT, VMI, Coppin State, and Mount St. Mary’s. The losses otherwise were to Columbia, VCU, Boston College, and Delaware State. Loyola MD has been on a 3-5 clip since then. The wins have come versus Lehigh, Navy, and Lehigh again during that time. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Hampton, DePaul, Holy Cross, Army, and American University for a spotty 8-9 overall record through 17 games thus far for the Greyhounds.
Matched up against Lehigh in their rematch on Saturday, the Greyhounds hit a 33-31 deficit by the end of the first half. Loyola MD recovered in the second half, however, riding a 45-27 stretch toward a 76-60 victory in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Veljko Ilic with 15 points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. Milos Ilic added 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists to lead the starters, while Jordan Stiemke chipped in 12 bench points and four rebounds in his 28 minutes of work.

Lafayette vs Loyola MD Prediction
I’ll stick with Loyola MD. There’s not a lot to get excited about in this one, though it should at least be competitive. The Greyhounds are coming off a nice comeback win versus a struggling Lehigh team, notching 50 percent from the field with a 35-22 rebounding edge. Loyola MD shot a nice 11-of-22 (50 percent) from 3-point range in that one as well. Scoring-wise, the Greyhounds have been pretty good lately. They’ve hit 72 or more points in five of their last six outings. Another total like that and Loyola MD will be in great shape for Wednesday’s game. Lafayette has given up 160 combined points over their last pair, so the Greyhounds should have some openings here.
