Over on the Boston College side, they opened up the season on a pretty great run, but since late November it’s been a rough time throughout some difficult matchups. Boston College beat the Citadel, Temple, Loyola MD, Old Dominion, Missouri State, and Boise State during their first seven games (with a loss to VCU otherwise). Since then it’s been a sketchy 3-7 stretch over the past 10 outings. The wins in that time came versus Stonehill, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Miami. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Dartmouth, South Carolina, Wake Forest, SMU, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Notre Dame in that time for a 9-8 overall run through 17 games so far.

Matched up against Notre Dame on Monday, the Eagles came out of halftime looking at a 36-33 deficit on the scoreboard. Boston College was drilled 42-27 in the second half and limped to a sizable loss of 78-60. Leading the team in scoring was Donald Hand, the only player in double-figures with 17 points and three assists. I’m going to stick with Duke, but the line’s a bit too thick to mess with. The Blue Devils are one of the best-looking teams in the nation right now thanks to that lengthy winning streak. Duke shot a nice 54.8 percent from the field with a 43-22 rebounding edge in their latest dismantling of a struggling Miami team. The Blue Devils have scored 68 or more points in every game so far this year, and 70 or more in all but one (68 versus George Mason) so they should put up a nice total here as well.

As for the Eagles, they were blitzed on the boards 35-23 (17-7 offensive) in their latest loss to Notre Dame and had 18 turnovers for 25 Irish points. Boston College has been below 65 points in two of the last three games (all three were losses) so I don’t think they’ve got the gas to keep pace with Duke in any capacity—even at home.
