Stonehill Skyhawks Betting Preview
The Skyhawks kicked off their season on a pretty tough run, but lately, they’ve been looking quite a bit better. Stonehill opened with a 2-4 record over their first six, beating only Framingham State and New Orleans among losses to Notre Dame, Providence, Robert Morris, and Lindenwood. A 4-1 stretch came after that with a lone loss to Marquette among wins over Bryant, East Texas A&M, Quinnipiac, and Lesley University. Since then it’s been a 3-4 run for the Skyhawks. The wins have come over New Hampshire, Lafayette, and St. Francis PA. The losses otherwise were versus Boston College, UMass Lowell, Mercyhurst, and Long Island University for a .500 overall record across 18 games so far this season.
In the Long Island U matchup back on Friday, the Skyhawks entered the second half holding a 33-27 edge. Stonehill lost the handle from there, however, falling behind on a 43-27 run for an eventual loss of 70-60 in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the losing effort was Louie Semona with 17 points and five rebounds. Chas Stinson added 14 points with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Also in double-figures was Todd Brogna with 10 points, four rebounds, one assist, one block, and four turnovers in 26 minutes of work on the floor.
Chicago State Cougars Betting Preview
Over on the Chicago State side, they’ve had a rough year—to put it mildly—but just recently got their first win of the season. The Cougars started out on a tough 0-15 run. The losses in that time came versus Loyola Chicago, Youngstown State, Texas, San Francisco, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana State, Radford, Drexel, Wisconsin, St. Thomas MN, Saint Louis, Mercer, Grand Canyon, Cal State Northridge, and Illinois in succession. Following their first victory over Wagner last Friday, the Cougars took another loss to Long Island University in the next outing.
In the LIU matchup last weekend, the Cougars came into the locker room sporting a 25-22 halftime edge. Chicago State went limp in the second half however, getting outscored 31-14 the rest of the way for a 53-39 defeat in the end. Leading the team in the losing effort was Gabe Spinelli with nine points (no one on the team reached double-figures) and two rebounds with a pair of assists. Noble Crawford added seven points with four rebounds as well.

Stonehill vs Chicago State Prediction
I’ll just stay with Stonehill here. There’s not a whole lot to like about this matchup between two struggling teams, though. The Skyhawks fell flat in the second half in their last matchup with LIU however, so they’ll need a more complete effort here. Stonehill posted 41.5 percent shooting with a 33-25 rebounding deficit and 11 turnovers in that one. The Skyhawks have failed to reach 70 points in three straight games (a 1-2 run) but they’ve got a decent chance at doing so here.
As for Chicago State, they also wilted in the second half of their last game, eventually shooting 29.2 percent from the field with 3-of-20 (15 percent) from outside and 15 turnovers versus LIU. The Cougars haven’t reached 65 points in seven straight games themselves, so it’s tough to imagine a cover here.
Andrew’s Pick Stonehill Skyhawks -2.5
