San Francisco Dons Betting Preview

The Dons opened up their season on a nice 4-0 run. Those victories came versus Cal Poly, Boise State, Long Beach State, and Chicago State. San Francisco would lose their next pair versus Memphis and Clemson, however. Following wins over Fordham, Mercyhurst, Saint Louis, Stanislaus State, and Loyola Chicago in the next five, the Dons took another loss to Bradley. Since then it’s been three straight wins over Montana, Loyola Marymount, and Santa Clara for a 12-3 overall record through 15 games this year.

In the Santa Clara game on Monday, the Dons came out of the break sporting a two-point deficit. San Francisco came back on a 41-39 run to force overtime and eventually won 97-94 in the end. Malik Thomas was the team’s top scorer with 34 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Marcus Williams added 23 points with eight assists, one rebound, one steal, and one block. Tops in scoring off the bench was James O’Donnell and his eight points.

Pacific Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Tigers’ side, they kicked off the season on a nice 3-0 stretch with wins over Jessup University, San Jose State, and Life Pacific in succession. Pacific would lose to Hawaii, Northern Arizona, Arkansas, and Missouri before two more wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Cal State Fullerton. Since then, however, it’s been seven straight losses. Those have come versus Colorado, Illinois State, UNLV, Portland State, Idaho, Saint Mary’s, and San Diego.

In the San Diego game on Monday, the Tigers faced a 35-31 halftime deficit. Pacific didn’t end up getting any closer after a 40-34 run in the second half and lost 75-65. Elijah Fisher was the leading scorer in the defeat, notching a double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist. Elias Ralph added 17 points with nine rebounds and a pair of steals, while Jefferson Koulibaly scored 10 points. Tops off the bench was Peter Krivokapic with 10 points.

San Francisco vs Pacific Prediction

I’m staying with San Francisco, but not much past the opening line. It’s pretty thick. The Dons had a little more trouble than they probably should have in dispatching Santa Clara on Monday, but everything worked out well in overtime. San Francisco finished with 52.3 percent shooting from the floor and just nine turnovers. That said, the Dons also got out-rebounded 41-34 and hit just 19-of-31 (61.3 percent) from the line. That said, San Francisco has looked pretty good during this 8-1 stretch. They’ve scored 68 or more points in each win and held opponents below 68 points in eight of nine games overall.

As for Pacific, they mustered a solid 37-33 rebounding edge over a struggling San Diego team in their last game. The shooting was pretty bad, though. The Tigers hit a tepid 41.8 percent from the floor with 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from 3-point range and 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the line alongside 15 turnovers. This seven-game losing skid has been pretty brutal for Pacific. They’ve been below 67 points in five of those games and probably won’t break that trend here. I like San Francisco to cover pretty easily if all goes well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: San Francisco Dons -15.5
