West Georgia Wolves Betting Preview
The Wolves have had a pretty rough season so far, but to be fair they’ve been close in a couple of their losses. West Georgia began with defeats by Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee Tech, USF, Troy, Georgia Southern, and Utah Valley in their first seven outings.
In their matchup with North Dakota State on Wednesday, the Wolves were within one point at halftime but fell behind 40-29 from there in a 73-61 loss. Shelton Williams-Dryden led the team in the losing effort with 19 points and eight boards.
Samford Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Samford side, they were able to win five of their first seven outings. The wins were over MS College, Rhodes, North Alabama, Texas Southern, and North Dakota State. The losses otherwise were against Cornell and Michigan State.
On Wednesday versus Utah Valley, Samford was in trouble by halftime, facing a 43-38 deficit. The Bulldogs woke up on a 46-33 stretch after that, however, and won 84-76. Jaden Brownell went 22 points with three assists and three rebounds to lead the way.
Why the Samford Bulldogs will win
- Samford has won each of its last 23 games at Pete Hanna Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.
West Georgia vs Samford Prediction
I’ll probably just lean toward Samford. The Bulldogs started pretty slowly against Utah Valley in their Wednesday game, but to their credit, Samford had a great second half and powered out the win. The Bulldogs would finish with 47.9 percent shooting from the field, but did give up 50 percent on the other side and had 13 turnovers in a pretty sloppy overall game (36 total turnovers). Still, Samford is cooking on the scoreboard this year with 75 or more points in every game so far.
As for West Georgia, they’ve come up empty so far but for the most part, they’ve been competitive. The Wolves have finished below 66 points in four of the last five games however, so I don’t think they’ve got the gas to keep up with Samford if the Bulldogs really get moving.
Andrew’s Pick Samford Bulldogs -18.5
