Tulsa Golden Hurricane Betting Preview
The Hurricane started strong this year with three straight wins, taking out Northeastern State, AR-Pine Bluff, and Oral Roberts. Tulsa would fall in the next trio however, losing to Missouri State, Little Rock, and Loyola IL along the way.
On Tuesday in their matchup with Detroit, Tulsa looked pretty good in the first half with a 36-27 edge at the break. The Hurricanes hit a 27-17 run the rest of the way in a 63-44 victory. Keaston Willis topped the team with 15 points with four rebounds.
Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview
Over on the Georgia State side, they beat Ball State in their opener then ell to Mississippi State and Jacksonville State in the next pair. The Panthers would win consecutive games versus Toccoa Falls and NC Central after that, however.
Matched up against Austin Peay in their Tuesday game, the Panthers struggled with 26 points in the first half and 24 more in the second for a 62-50 loss. Georgia State’s Zarique Nutter finished with 17 points and three assists in the losing effort.
Why the Georgia State Panthers will win
- Tulsa has lost five of its last six games against non-AP-ranked opponents at a neutral venue.
- Georgia State has won each of its last five Wednesday day games.
- Georgia State has won the first half in nine of its last 10 Wednesday games against non-conference opponents.
Why the Tulsa Golden Hurricane will win
- Georgia State has lost five of its last six day games.
Tulsa vs Georgia State Prediction
I’ll take a stab at Tulsa. The Hurricanes didn’t shoot all that great from the field (36.8 percent) or the line (10-of-18 for 55.6 percent) on Tuesday but did just about everything else quite well against Detroit. Tulsa held the Titans to just 27.7 percent shooting overall in a fine defensive display while getting some solid minutes down the roster in garbage time. The Hurricanes have scored below 64 points in three straight games (a 1-2 stretch), so it’ll be important to show the same defensive muscle against Georgia State.
Speaking of the Panthers, on Tuesday they had a pretty miserable offensive outing. Just two players (Nutter and Malachi Brown) accounted for over half the Panthers’ points, and no one else was above eight points on the day. Georgia State has finished below 68 points in three of their last five games now, which is a good sign for Tulsa’s defensive potential on Wednesday.
