The St.Bonaventure Bonnies will host the Saint Joseph’s Hawks in Atlantic 10 play from the Reilly Center on the USA Network. St. Joe’s leads the all-time series, 50-33, but St. Bonaventure’s has won the last eight meetings.
Saint Joseph’s fell to 13-15 after losing to VCU in Philly. The Hawks were outscored by double digits in both halves by the Rams, and they’d end up falling by 25 points, 88-63. St. Joe’s is scoring 72.0 points per game, while allowing 71.7 ppg, and shooting 42.8% from the field.
St. Joe’s has dropped their last three games and they’ll look to right the ship before the season closes. The Hawks are 7-9 in A10 play, with a 4-6 road record. SJU plays through the strength of their backcourt, and they’re led by Erik Reynolds II. The sophomore guard has scored 21 points in three of their five last five games. Second-year guard Lynn Greer III has also scored 20 points or more in three of the last five games, and he’s posting a nice line of 11.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and a team-lead 4.1 apg. Four-year starter Cameron Brown leads the Hawks in rebounding (6.1), while scoring 13.5 ppg.
St. Bonaventure dropped to 13-16 following a road loss to Davidson. The Bonnies massively trailed the Wildcats at the break, and they’d end up losing 13 points, 74-61. SBU is scoring 66.7 ppg, while allowing 66.6 ppg, and shooting 42.7% from the field.
St. Bonaventure has dropped their last five games, and they’ll look to win their home finale here. The Bonnies are 7-9 in Atlantic 10 play, with a 10-4 home record. St Peter’s transfer Daryl Banks has scored 15 points in three of the last five games, and he leads the team in scoring (15.1). Sophomore forward Chad Venning led the team with 22 points against GWU last week, and he’s second on the team with 12.4 ppg and 5.5 rpg.
St. Joe’s is 16-11 against the spread this season, with a 12-14-1 over/under record. St. Bonaventure is 16-12 ATS this year, with a 14-14 o/u record.
St. Joe’s and St. Bonaventure have both tailed off towards the end of the season, and something has to give here. I’d love to lean Mark Schmidt’s way with the Bonnies in their home finale, but after dropping five straight games, targeting them feels a bit more appealing. The Hawks backcourt firepower should give the hosting Bonnies a good fight, and they could even sneak away with the underdog victory. Spot St. Joe’s the points this Sunday.
