In this article we will formulate a Western Kentucky vs Nevada prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 5th at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this Week 1 matchup.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Betting Preview

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers went 9-4 (6-2) last year and they finished third in the CUSA standings. Western Kentucky started the season with a 41-24 win over Sam Houston and they defeated North Alabama 55-6 in their second game. The Hilltoppers were 5-1 through six games, but they lost to FIU 25-6 in a bad loss. WKU did go 3-2 to end the regular season, before defeating Southern Miss by a score of 27-16 in the New Orleans Bowl. The Hilltoppers scored 29.5 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 22.8 points against per game on defense.

This year, Western Kentucky will start Rodney Tisdale at quarterback, who was very good last season, and they should have talent at wide receiver. The Hilltoppers did lose a lot of rushing production and the offensive line needs some reshuffling, so we will see how quickly they can figure that out. On defense, Western Kentucky actually returns some decent production and they were elite in the red zone in 2025.

Nevada Wolf Pack Betting Preview

The Nevada Wolf Pack were 3-9 (2-6) last season and they finished tied for ninth in the Mountain West standings. Nevada started the season with a 46-11 loss to Penn State, but they bounced back with a 20-17 win over Sacramento State. The Wolf Pack ended up losing each of the next seven games, before going 2-1 to finish out. Nevada only defeated San Jose State and Wyoming in the FBS. The Wolf Pack scored 17.6 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 27.5 points against per game on defense.

This season, Nevada is starting Carter Jones at quarterback, but he struggled last year as a freshman. The running backs should be solid, but most of the WR production is gone. The Wolf Pack were one of the worst offenses in 2025, so they need to find improvement quickly. On defense, Nevada wasn’t great last year, but they had no help from that awful offense. They do have some key returning pieces, but the secondary needs some help.

Western Kentucky vs Nevada Prediction

Nevada will look to start this season on the right foot with a big win here, but this is going to be a very tough game. The Wolf Pack were terrible on offense last year and they return the same quarterback, so I have my doubts about them improving. Western Kentucky had a very successful 2025 season and their passing attack is always elite. The Hilltoppers have some holes defensively, but I am not confident Nevada can take advantage. Take Western Kentucky to win on the road here.
