South Carolina Gamecocks Betting Preview

The Gamecocks have three games completed so far this year. First came the opener versus Virginia Tech; South Carolina ended up taking that one 24-11 at home. In game two versus South Carolina State, the Gamecocks scored 17 points in the second quarter and 21 more in the third during a 38-10 victory. QB LaNorris Sellers was 11-of-19 for 128 yards and a TD, and Jawarn Howell had seven carries for 30 yards. Vandrevius Jacobs added four catches for 57 yards and a score to lead the receivers in the win.

In their matchup last weekend versus Vanderbilt, South Carolina couldn’t score after a first-quarter touchdown, eventually losing a shocker 31-7. QB Luke Doty was 18-of-27 for 148 yards and an interception, while Rahsul Faison had 15 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown to lead the rush. Leading receiver Nyck Harbor caught four balls for 66 yards in the disappointing result.

Missouri Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Missouri side, they’ve got three games in the bag as well. In their opener versus Central Arkansas, the Tigers had no issues whatsoever and won the game 61-6. Game two against Kansas was a little too close for comfort but still a win. Missouri coughed up 21 points in the first quarter alone, but eventually steadied the ship on the way to a 42-31 victory. QB Beau Pribula went 30-of-39 for 334 yards and three scores. Jamal Roberts was the team’s top rusher with 143 yards and a TD on 13 carries, and leading receiver Kevin Coleman put up 10 catches for 126 yards and a TD. Brett Norfleet added 76 yards and a couple of TDs as well.

Matched up against Louisiana on Saturday, the Tigers didn’t have too much trouble. Missouri was up 38-10 by the break and scored in every quarter along the way to a 52-10 victory in the end. Pribula was 15-of-22 for 174 yards, two scores and a pick this time, while Ahmad Hardy topped the rush on 250 yards and three scores. Marquise Davis had a nice day as well with his 113 yards and a TD. Coleman logged high honors among receivers with eight grabs for 84 yards total.

South Carolina vs Missouri Prediction

I’ll stay with Missouri, even though a lot of the luster has worn off this one following the Gamecocks’ stunning loss last weekend. In any case, the Tigers waltzed right past Louisiana in their last outing, posting 606 yards (427 rushing), 7.0 yards per play, 32 first downs and a very nice 9-of-13 success rate on third downs. The defense gave up just 121 yards on the other side, four first downs and 1-of-11 on third-down tries. It was a one-sided affair in every sense of the phrase.

Missouri will have to take on a bewildered (and probably angry) South Carolina team this weekend. The Gamecocks didn’t help themselves in the loss to Vandy with four turnovers, eight penalties and a 4-of-12 run on third downs. South Carolina is too good of a team not to bounce back after that one, but I don’t think they’ll quite stick with the Tigers.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Missouri Tigers -11.5
