The QB job for Robert Morris is up in the air with Anthony Chiccitt transferring to Temple, leaving Zach Tanner and Ameer Dudley to fight for the job. The transfer portal makes up the RMU backfield with none of the top rushers from the Colonials’ 1400+ rushing yard season last year returning, and it’s the same in the receiving room with little production returning. On defense, there’s a lot of division I transfers coming in to patch up a rebuilt defensive unit, but only time will tell if Robert Morris can maintain their hold and position in the NEC or if it’s restarting time for the Colonials.

The West Virginia Mountaineers come into the 2025 campaign with a new voice at the helm with Rich Rodriguez coming back to where it all happened before after taking Jacksonville State to the highest of highs and bringing them to a C-USA title but now has to rebuild a WVU team that went 6-7 last year, including a loss in the Frisco Bowl to Memphis by a final score of 42-37. Nicco Marchiol is back and is expected to be the QB1 for Rich Rod but he’ll need help with a receiving corps that lost a lot of pieces. The good news is Cam Vaughn comes over, following Rich Rodriguez from Jacksonville State after leading the Gamecocks with 48 catches for 803 yards last season. The run-heavy Rodriguez approach is made easier by the return of Jahiem White and the addition of Jaylan Knighton from the transfer portal. On defense, Jimmori Robinson transfers in from UTSA to help the line while Fred Perry comes over from Jacksonville State after logging 110 tackles and 10 TFLs last season.

I’m on West Virginia here. There are just too many question marks for me to think that Robert Morris competes here. West Virginia has some things to figure out in their own right, but Rich Rodriguez offenses usually have a tendency to hit the ground running and I just don’t see Robert Morris being able to do enough to stop WVU here. Give me West Virginia in this one.
