The Irish surrendered 488 yards (360 passing) in the loss alongside 7.1 yards per play and 24 first downs. On offense Notre Dame came up with 429 yards, 293 of those coming through the air.
In last weekend’s game versus Purdue, the Irish scored 21 points in both the second and third quarters on the way to a win 56-30. QB CJ Carr was 10-of-12 for 233 yards and a couple of scores. Jeremiyah Love rushed 19 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns, while Jadarian Price had nine totes for 74 yards and three more scores. Jordan Faison caught five balls for 105 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Over on the Arkansas side, they’ve got four games in the books this year. The Razorbacks didn’t have any trouble in their opener at home versus Alabama A&M, rolling to a 52-7 blowout victory. Ditto for game two versus Arkansas State as the Razorbacks cruised to a 56-14 victory. Game three versus Ole Miss marked the Razorbacks’ first loss of the year, as they’d give up 24 points (and score 21 themselves) during a wild second quarter on the way to a 41-35 loss. Arkansas’ offense amassed 526 yards in the defeat, with 221 of those on the ground.
In the Memphis game on Saturday, the Razorbacks scored 21 points in the second quarter and were in a position to win down the stretch but eventually lost a tough one 32-31. QB Taylen Green went 18-of-34 for 325 yards, one TD and two picks. Mike Washington was the team’s leading rusher with 70 yards and a score on 15 carries, while Rohan Jones caught two balls for 102 yards and a touchdown as the team’s top receiver.

I’ll lean toward Notre Dame but you could make a good case the other way. The Irish didn’t have a ton of issues with Purdue (outside of 303 passing yards allowed), collecting 535 yards (254 rushing), 27 first downs and a nice 6-of-10 showing on third downs during their win last weekend. It was a refreshing change of pace to be able to card a win, given that the Irish have played some tough teams already. Notre Dame has scored a combined 96 points over the past two weeks, but they’ve allowed 30 or more points in each game as well.
As for Arkansas, they couldn’t quite close things out against Memphis. the three turnovers didn’t help matters, nor did the seven penalties or the 3-of-10 success rate on third downs. There were some sparks of brilliance here and there, but the Razorbacks are going to need a much better effort when the Irish come to town on Saturday.
