Memphis Tigers Betting Preview
The Tigers kicked off their 2025 run with a series of six wins. Those came versus Chattanooga, Georgia State, Troy, Arkansas, Florida Atlantic and Tulsa. Memphis took their first loss of the year versus UAB, then beat South Florida in the next game 34-31 at home and Rice 38-14 on the road after that. In the win over the Owls, Memphis scored 31 points in the first half and eventually totaled 355 yards with 6.3 yards per play and 20 first downs on offense.
In their latest game last Friday versus Tulane, the Tigers were in trouble with a 35-17 halftime deficit. Memphis put up some points in the fourth but it wasn’t enough in a 38-32 home loss. QB Brendon Lewis went 29-of-34 for 317 yards, two scores and a pick. Tops in rushing was Greg Desrosiers with 35 yards on eight totes, while Cortez Braham had a nice game with 11 catches for 113 yards to top the receivers.
East Carolina Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the East Carolina side, they went 2-2 in their first four games with wins over Campbell and Coastal Carolina alongside losses to NC State and BYU. The next four games were a 3-1 run though, with a lone loss to Tulane amid wins over Army, Tulsa and Temple. In the win over the Owls on November 1 on the road 45-14, the Pirates gave up just 233 total yards, 4.2 yards per play, 11 first downs and 3-of-12 on third-down tries. The offense gained 614 yards on the other side with 358 rush yards, 8.2 yards per play and 26 first downs.
Matched up against Charlotte last Saturday, the Pirates didn’t have too many issues. East Carolina was up 35-14 by the end of the half and scored in every quarter along the way to a 48-22 home victory. Katin Houser was 26-of-41 for 224 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing in a pair of scores. London Montgomery led the rush with 85 yards and a TD on 11 carries while Anthony Smith had eight catches for 69 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Memphis vs East Carolina Prediction
I’ll stick with Memphis. This will be a good matchup, though. The Tigers have to rebound well after a tough loss at home versus Tulane as well. In that one Memphis let the game get away early and ended up surrendering 457 total yards, 8.2 yards per play and 17 first downs with no takeaways. The offense gained 435 yards on the other side with 23 first downs and 6.3 yards per play but just couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard. The good news is that Memphis is scoring well this year; they’ve got 32 or more points in three straight games.
As for ECU, they rolled right through a struggling Charlotte team in a blowout home win over the weekend despite going just 6-of-16 on third downs and losing a fumble. The Pirates generated 407 total yards and 29 first downs in the victory, while the defense gave up just 40 rush yards, 13 first downs and 4-of-14 on third downs on the other side—along with a couple of takeaways. That makes 41 or more points in three straight wins for the Pirates, so they’ll be ready for this one.
