Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview

The Hoosiers opened up their 2025 campaign with an August 30 matchup at home versus Old Dominion. Indiana didn’t post an outright blowout in that one, but still secured a comfortable win 27-14. In week two versus Kennesaw State however, the Hoosiers rolled right past the competition in a 56-9 dismantling. Ditto for game three against Indiana State. In that one Indiana scored 21 points in the first quarter, 24 in the second and 21 more in the third on the way to a 73-0 shutout win. The Hoosiers amassed 680 yards of offense during the victory, holding the Sycamores to just 77 total yards on the other side.

In their matchup versus rival Illinois last weekend, the Hoosiers scored 21 points in the second quarter (and 14 in each of the others) during a 63-10 blowout win. QB Fernando Mendoza had 267 yards with five scores on a nice 21-of-23 passing, and leading rusher Khobie Martin had 12 carries for 107 yards and two scores. Elijah Sarratt caught nine balls for 92 yards and two touchdowns to top the receivers.

Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Preview

Over on the Iowa side, they started out their season with a home matchup versus Albany. The Hawkeyes didn’t have too many issues in that one, cruising to a 34-7 win. Game two versus Iowa State was Iowa’s first loss, as they dropped a tough one on the road 16-13 versus a tricky opponent. The good news is that the Hawkeyes bounced right back in their next game, destroying UMass 47-7 on September 13. Iowa scored 20 points in the first quarter during that matchup and never looked back on the way to 435 total yards. The Hawkeyes held the Minutemen to just 119 yards of offense on the other side as well.

In their latest game versus Rutgers, Iowa played a tight one most of the way, entering the fourth quarter all tied up 21-21. The Hawkeyes posted a 17-7 run in the fourth however, eventually winning 38-28. QB Mark Gronowski was 12-of-18 for 186 yards, and also ran in three touchdowns. Kamari Moulton led the rush with 14 carries for 68 yards and a score, while Dayton Howard’s 42-yard catch put him atop the receivers during the win.

Indiana vs Iowa Prediction

I’ll probably stick with Indiana in this one, but it’ll be an interesting matchup. The Hoosiers are riding high after blowing out their next-door neighbor Illinois last weekend, holding the Illini to just 161 total yards (159 passing), nine first downs and 1-of-10 on third downs. That gives the Hoosiers 56 or more points in three straight games and 27 or more in all four. The offense is cooking right now.

As for Iowa, they certainly had some ups and downs in their win over Rutgers, amassing 346 yards (186 passing), 6.2 yards per play and 22 first downs along the way. The Hawkeyes gave up 400 yards to the Knights, with 330 of those coming via the pass. Iowa has scored pretty well this year outside of the Iowa State loss, with 34 or more points in the other three games. The Hawkeyes will need another good offensive showing here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Indiana Hoosiers -7.5
