Arkansas Razorbacks Betting Preview

The Razorbacks won their first two games of the season versus Alabama A&M and Arkansas State, then came a losing skid. Arkansas would fall versus Ole Miss, Memphis, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn and Mississippi State from there. In the 38-35 loss to the Bulldogs on November 1, the Razorbacks were outscored 17-7 in the fourth quarter. Arkansas generated 433 yards total with 239 rush yards, 5.6 yards per play and 25 first downs. Their undoing, however, was the 18 penalties for 193 total yards in a sloppy performance.

In their game versus LSU last weekend, Arkansas gave up a 14-0 first-quarter lead but got it back on a 22-16 edge going into the final frame. In the end however, the Razorbacks fell 23-22 following a fourth-quarter TD by the Tigers. Arkansas QB Taylen Green was 11-of-19 for 165 yards and a pair of pick but did run in a TD on 17 carries for 70 yards. Mike Washington had 13 carries for 85 yards and a score of his own, while leading receiver Raylen Sharpe had four catches for 65 yards in the losing effort.

Texas Longhorns Betting Preview

Over on the Texas side, they lost to Ohio State by one touchdown in their opener. The Longhorns recovered with wins over San Jose State, UTEP and Sam Houston, then fell to Florida. After that came wins over Oklahoma, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, though. In the win over the Commodores 34-31, Texas was outscored 21-0 in the final frame but held on in the end. The Longhorns posted 428 total yards with 328 pass yards, 7.1 yards per play and 23 first downs, but did notch nine penalties as a team for 70 total yards in the win.

Matched up against Georgia on Saturday, Texas went into the final quarter with a 14-10 deficit. The Longhorns gave up three unanswered touchdowns from there though, leading to a 35-10 loss in the end. QB Arch Manning had a 27-of-43 line for 251 yards, one TD and one pick. Quintrevion Wisner added nine carries for 37 yards, while DeAndre Moore had five catches for 75 yards as the leading receiver for the Longhorns in the defeat.

Arkansas vs Texas Prediction

I’ll stay with Texas. The Longhorns imploded in the final quarter against a very good Georgia squad last weekend and let their chances at an upset road win slip away. Texas posted just 23 rushing yards with 15 first downs and 2-of-12 on third downs in the defeat, not to mention the nine team penalties. On defense Texas held Georgia to 4-of-11 on third downs while giving up 357 yards, 5.6 yards per play and 21 first downs. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Longhorns, who have been below 24 points in four of their last six games.

As for Arkansas, they had three turnovers, 16 first downs and a rough 2-of-11 success rate on third-down tries in their tight road loss to LSU last weekend. The Razorbacks have now lost eight straight, but to be fair they’ve played some very tough teams in that stretch.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Texas Longhorns -10
