Virginia Cavaliers Betting Preview
The Cavs’ season started on a 4-1 run with wins over Richmond, Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, and Boston College. Virginia hit a 1-4 stretch after that, however, falling to Louisville, Clemson, North Carolina, and Notre Dame with a lone win over Pitt.
In the SMU game over the weekend, the Cavaliers gave up points in every quarter and couldn’t find the scoreboard until the fourth themselves in a 33-7 loss. Anthony Colandrea posted 108 yards with a TD, while Malachi Fields had 42 yards and a score off four catches.
Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Preview
Over on the Hokies’ side, they went 3-3 over their first six games. The wins in that time were over Marshall, Old Dominion, and Stanford. Virginia Tech would then beat Boston College and Georgia Tech before losses to Syracuse and Clemson.
On Saturday versus Duke, Virginia Tech was down 21-17 at the break but eventually lost 31-28 despite a shot at a fourth-quarter comeback. William Watson threw for 146 yards and an interception. Lead rusher Bhayshul Tuten had 84 yards and a TD off 19 carries.

Virginia vs Virginia Tech Prediction
I’ll go with Virginia Tech, but you could make a case either way. It’ll be a fun matchup. The Hokies are coming off a tough loss to Duke, posting 403 yards with 24 first downs, two turnovers, and eight penalties. Virginia Tech’s defense gave up a ton through the air (332 yards) but also had four takeaways with 12 first downs and 2-of-11 on third downs allowed. It should have been a good enough defensive showing to win; instead, it was the Hokies’ third straight loss.
As for Virginia, they managed just 173 yards (108 passing) and 2.6 yards per play in their Saturday loss to a great SMU team. The Cavs have scored 14 or fewer points in three of the last four games (a 1-3 run) but to be fair they’ve played a couple of very tough teams in that time. Virginia should match up pretty well here, but if the Hokies can clean up their mistakes and keep the chains moving on third-down shots I like Virginia Tech to bag the home cover. Should be a fun one to watch regardless.
