San Diego State led 3-0 in the first quarter, but they allowed the next 24 points in the game for the loss. The Aztecs were outgained by a total of 473-276, lost the turnover battle 2-1, and went 5-16 on third down in the game. San Diego State defeated Texas A&M-Commerce by a score of 45-14 in their first game, but they lost to Oregon State by a score of 21-0 in their second game. The SDSU offense has scored 18.3 points per game with 162.3 passing yards and 145.3 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 22 points per game this season. The Aztecs have gone 30.2% on third down and 4-9 on fourth down so far this season. Danny O’Neil is the starting quarterback, but he missed the last game with an injury. Marquez Cooper has rushed for 363 yards and two scores this year.
Central Michigan Chippewas Betting Preview
The Central Michigan Chippewas are 2-2 this season after they defeated Ball State by a score of 37-34 last week. Central Michigan trailed at two different times in the fourth quarter, but they scored the winning touchdown with 16 seconds left in the game for the win. The CMU offense has scored 32.3 points per game with 231.8 passing yards and 192.3 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 31.5 points per game this season. The Chippewas have gone 38% on third down and 4-10 on fourth down through four games. Joe Labas has completed 59.3% of his passes for 803 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions, while Evan Boyd has caught 11 passes for 202 yards and one score.
San Diego State vs Central Michigan Prediction
Central Michigan was able to pick up a last-minute victory against Ball State in their last game, but Ball State is one of the worst teams in the MAC, so that isn’t a great sign. The Chippewas were blown out by FIU in the previous game and I have some serious concerns about the defense. San Diego State has lost two straight games against Cal and Oregon State, but this will be an easier opponent to manage. The Aztecs are dealing with an injury to their starting quarterback, but the backup wasn’t awful against Cal. I think this San Diego State offense will find success against this Central Michigan defense and they have a great shot to win this game, but I will take them with the points.
