Troy allowed 22 of the next 25 points to go down 28-17 in the fourth, and they came up just short on a two-point conversion for the loss. Goose Crowder threw for 201 yards and one touchdown, while Damien Taylor rushed for 103 yards and one score on 11 carries.
Troy was in control of this game for the first 29 minutes of this game, but it went south quickly and they couldn’t complete the comeback late in the fourth. The Trojans did take care of the ball and racked up almost 400 total yards, but the defense didn’t do its part against a Nevada team that is below average.
Memphis Tigers Betting Preview
The Memphis Tigers are 1-0 this season after they defeated North Alabama by a score of 40-0 in their first game. Memphis led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, but that lead ballooned to 31-0 at the half, and the Tigers were able to cruise to the victory. Memphis outgained North Alabama by a total of 367-185 and forced three turnovers in the game. Memphis went 6-11 on third downs, but they only ran for 59 yards. Seth Henigan threw for 308 yards and two scores, while Mario Anderson rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.
Memphis started the first quarter pretty slow, but they got the offense going in the second quarter and they were able to pick up a very easy victory in week one. The Tigers need to work on their rushing attack, but they should have one of the better passing attacks in the country this season. Memphis will take on Florida State, Navy, and Middle Tennessee State after this game.
Troy vs Memphis Prediction
Memphis comes into this game looking for their second straight win to start the season, while Troy will look to bounce back after their opening loss to Nevada. The Trojans need to replicate their first-half performance against Nevada defensively, but that is going to be easier said than done against this Memphis offense. I expect Memphis to come out strong in this matchup and while I do think they will focus on getting the run game going, they know their bread and butter is the passing game. I like Henigan to have another huge game here and I am taking Memphis at home.
