Rhode Island Rams Betting Preview
The Rams managed a middling 6-5 record last year overall. In CAA games, Rhode Island went 4-4. That was only good enough for seventh place in the standings behind Albany, Villanova, Richmond, Delaware, Elon, and New Hampshire.
In their first game of the 2024 season versus Holy Cross, the Rams were up 13-3 in the fourth quarter and held on for the win 20-17. QB Devin Farrell notched 287 yards with a pair of scores while also leading the rush with 54 yards off 13 carries.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Betting Preview
Over on the Gophers’ side, they barely eked into a bowl berth with a 6-7 overall record in 2023. Minnesota went 3-6 in Big Ten play, finishing ahead of only Nebraska and Purdue in the West Division. The Gophers won their Quick Lane Bowl appearance versus Bowling Green 30-24.
Matched up against North Carolina last week, the Gophers blew a halftime lead on the way to a 19-17 defeat. QB Max Brosmer threw for 166 yards, and Marcus Major led the rush on 73 yards and a score.

Rhode Island vs Minnesota Prediction
I’m going to lean toward Minnesota but I’m probably not touching it. The Gophers didn’t get much out of their offense versus the Tar Heels, totaling just 244 yards (166 passing), 14 first downs, and a 4-of-12 rate on third-down tries. Minnesota could only muster a field goal in the second half as North Carolina chipped away at the lead.
As for Rhode Island, they gave up 14 points in the fourth quarter versus Holy Cross and gave up 139 rush yards to the Crusaders’ Jordan Fuller. This week’s matchup is going to get a lot tougher and I don’t think the Rams will quite cover.
