The UCLA Bruins will travel to Arizona Stadium to take on the Arizona Wildcats this Saturday night in College Football action.
The UCLA Bruins dropped to 3-2 on the season after being defeated by the Arizona State Sun Devils, 42-23, this past Saturday. UCLA trailed by just a 24-23 margin at halftime, however, the Bruins were dominated on both sides of the ball in the 2nd half and could not fight back after a 1-yard TD run by Rachaad White gave the Sun Devils a 39-23 lead with 6:43 left in the 4th quarter. UCLA was outgained by Arizona State by a 463-435 margin and committed 1 turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Bruins was QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson who completed 21 of 32 passes for 235 yards & 1 TD while also rushing for 96 yards on 19 carries.
On the season, UCLA is averaging 35.8 ppg on 429.4 total yards per game (234.4 passing yds/g; 195.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, UCLA has been led by Dorian Thompson-Robinson who has completed 59.5% of his passes for 1154 yards, 10 TD, & 1 INT while also rushing for 214 yards & 2 TD’s on 64 carries. The top receiving threats for the Bruin s have been Kyle Philips (22 rec, 352 yards, 6 TD), Greg Dulcich (16 rec, 313 yards, 1 TD), & Kam Brown (6 rec, 127 yards, TD). In the backfield for the Bruins has been the duo of Zach Charbonnet (68 att, 449 yards, 7 TD) & Brittain Brown (58 att, 296 yards, 3 TD).
Defensively, UCLA is allowing their opponents to average 28.6 ppg on 408.0 total yards per game (321.4 passing yds/g; 86.6 rushing yds/g).
The Arizona Wildcats dropped to 0-4 on the season after being defeated by the 3rd ranked Oregon Ducks, 41-19, on September 25th. Arizona struggled with turnovers against the Oregon defense and could not fight back after an 18-yard TD reception by the Ducks Spencer Webb gave Oregon a 34-19 lead with 8:26 left in the 4th quarter. Arizona outgained Oregon by a 435-393 margin, however, lost the turnover battle by a 5-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Wildcats was RB Drake Anderson who had 67 rushing yards & 1 TD on 21 carries.
On the season, Arizona is averaging 17.0 ppg on 363.5 total yards per game (253.5 passing yds/g; 110.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arizona has used multiple QB’s this season with Jordan McCloud (62.8 Comp %, 299 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT) getting the recent start against Oregon. The top receiving threats for the Wildcats have been Stanley Berryhill III (33 rec, 338 yards, TD), Tayvian Cunningham (14 rec, 177 yards, TD), BJ Castell (15 rec, 139 yards, TD), & Boobie Curry (7 rec, 104 yards, 2 TD). Leading the way for the Wildcats backfield has been the duo of Drake Anderson (46 att, 182 yards, TD) & Michael Wiley (38 att, 132 yards).
Defensively, Arizona is allowing their opponents to average 31.0 ppg on 363.8 total yards per game (172.0 passing yds/g; 191.8 rushing yds/g).
The Bruins are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game, however, are just 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as a favorite. The Wildcats are 16-35-1 ATS in their last 52 games following a ATS win and just 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up loss.
Arizona was somehow able to get an ATS cover against Oregon despite losing the turnover battle by a 5-0 margin, however, I don’t think they are going to be able to cover against a UCLA team that I see having no trouble scoring against the Wildcats 103rd ranked rushing defense. Arizona can struggle scoring the football, ranking just 123rd in scoring offense, and between he fact the Wildcats have a turnover margin of -7 and that I think UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson will be able to get whatever he wants through the air or on the ground, I’m taking UCLA to cover this large road spread.
