The Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury meet Friday in WNBA action from the PHX Arena. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury prediction.

Matchup History

The Minnesota Lynx won the most recent meeting between these two teams back on September 25th, 2024 by a final score of 101-88 bringing their win streak to four against the Mercury and 8 wins in the last 9 head-to-head meetings.

Minnesota Lynx Recap

The Minnesota Lynx come into this game looking to build on their 82-77 win over Seattle last time out to improve their record to 5-0 on the year. After this game, the Lynx will head on the road for a matchup against the Golden State Valkyries.

Lynx Looking To Stay Undefeated

Napheesa Collier leads the Lynx in scoring with 26.8 PPG along with 7.8 RPG and 3 APG but is questionable for this game with an injury while Courtney Williams has added 14.8 PPG with 4.8 RPG and a team-high 6.6 APG to lead the Lynx in the assist department. Alanna Smith’s added 12.3 PPG with 4 RPG and 2.5 APG. Kayla McBride’s logged 15 PPG and 3 APG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Minnesota up to this point in the season. Jessica Shepard’s added 9.2 PPG with a team-high 7.4 RPG and 2.8 APG to lead the Lynx on the glass so far this season. As a team, Minnesota is averaging 86.2 PPG on 47% shooting from the field, 35.4% from three and 78.3% from the foul line this season.

Phoenix Mercury Recap

The Phoenix Mercury come into this game looking to build on their 94-89 win over the Chicago Sky last time out to improve to 4-1 on the year. After this game, the Mercury will head on the road for a game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Mercury Win Back-To-Back Games

Satou Sabally leads the Mercury in scoring with 19.8 PPG along with 7.4 RPG, 2.2 APG and 1.6 SPG while Alyssa Thomas has 15.2 PPG with team-highs of 7.6 RPG and 8 APG. Monique Akoa Makani has 10.6 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Phoenix so far this season. Kathryn Westbeld has also chipped in 7.4 PPG with 4.2 RPG while Kitija Laksa has 8.8 PPG as well on the year. As a team, Phoenix is averaging 80.4 PPG on 42.2% shooting from the field, 34.8% from three-point range and 72.2% from the foul line so far this season.

Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury Prediction

I’m on the under in this game. The Mercury are still one of the better defensive units in the WNBA this season, and if the Lynx are without Napheesa Collier that’s a massive blow. The Indiana Fever are a deep team as well and we saw their offensive struggles in the first game without Caitlin Clark, and while the Lynx are a different team, they could be potentially without the leading scorer in the WNBA. On the other side, the Mercury have had some lower-scoring games in their own right and I think this could end up being a first to 75 wins kind of game. Give me the under here.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Under 158
