Japan and Belgium meet Sunday in the 2024 Women’s Basketball Summer Olympics at Pierre Mauroy Stadium. Here’s a Japan vs Belgium Prediction. This article will include a Japan vs Belgium Pick.
Japan Betting Preview
Japan looks for its first Olympic victory after losing to the USA and Germany. Japan is averaging 70 points on 37.2 percent shooting and allowing 88.5 points on 46.8 percent shooting. Maki Takada is averaging 19.5 points and 3 rebounds, while Mai Yamamoto is averaging 17 points and 5 assists. Saori Miyazaki is the third double-digit scorer and Rui Machida is dishing 7 assists. Japan is shooting 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 70 percent from the free throw line. Japan is allowing 25 percent shooting from deep and is grabbing 30.5 rebounds per game.
Belgium Betting Preview
Belgium also needs an Olympic victory after losing to Germany and USA. Belgium is averaging 71.5 points on 43.5 percent shooting and allowing 85 points on 48.3 percent shooting. Emma Meesseman is averaging 24.5 points and 3 rebounds, while Julie Vanloo is averaging 14.5 points and 5.5 assists. Kyara Linskens is the third double-digit scorer and Antonia Delaere is grabbing 5 rebounds. Belgium is shooting 22.2 percent from beyond the arc and 76 percent from the free throw line. Belgium is allowing 43.3 percent shooting from deep and is grabbing 27 rebounds per game.
Japan vs Belgium Prediction
Neither Japan nor Belgium played well against Germany or USA, so this will be a better measuring test for both sides. It's a big game as both have a chance to advance to the knockout stages with a victory. With that said, Belgium is the better team overall, has had better offensive success and will have the best player on the court in Emma Meesseman. Japan is shooting well below 40 percent from the field, and that's simply not going to get it done against any team in this field. Thick line for a Belgium team that hasn't shown much resistance defensively. Still, I like Belgium to get a victory and give itself a chance at advancing to the elimination stage.
