Germany and Japan meet Thursday in the 2024 Women’s Basketball Summer Olympics at Pierre Mauroy Stadium. Here’s a Germany vs Japan Prediction. This article will include a Germany vs Japan Pick.
Germany Betting Preview
Germany looks for a quick 2-0 start after waxing Belgium 83-69 in its Olympic opener. Germany is averaging 83 points on 52.8 percent shooting and allowing 69 points on 45.9 percent shooting. Satou Sabally is averaging 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Nyara Sabally is averaging 16 points and 5 rebounds. Leonie Fiebich is the third double-digit scorer and Alexis Peterson is grabbing 5 rebounds. Germany is shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc and 82.6 percent from the free throw line. Germany is allowing 27.8 percent shooting from deep and is grabbing 37 rebounds per game.
Japan Betting Preview
Japan could use a win after losing to team USA 102-76 in its Olympic opener. Japan is averaging 76 points on 37.8 percent shooting and allowing 102 points on 54.6 percent shooting. Maki Takada is averaging 24 points and 1 rebound, while Mai Yamamoto is averaging 17 points and 5 assists. Saori Miyazaki is the third double-digit scorer and Himawari Akaho is grabbing 3 rebounds. Japan is shooting 38.5 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. Japan is allowing 20 percent shooting from deep and is grabbing 27 rebounds per game.
Germany vs Japan Prediction
Japan couldn't get a stop against team USA, but the offense showed potential, and that could have a carry-over effect in this game. Every team in the field is going to look bad against the United States, so I won't put too much stock into that opener. With that said, Germany is still the more talented team from top to bottom, and it's hard to argue with that offensive clinic it put on in a comfortable win over Belgium. If the Sabally sisters are going to get to their spots and score at will, Germany is a team that could leave Paris with a medal. Japan is better than what it showed, but the line is soft. I'm going with the talent and siding with Germany.
Randy’s Pick Germany -1.5
