Victoria Mboko is making her main draw debut at the Tokyo Open. Mboko is coming off a highly productive season in 2025 at all levels, winning 53 matches and losing 13 times. She has swept six titles, five on the ITF and one of course, in that memorable and historic run at the Canadian Open.

But since lifting her first WTA title on home soil in August, Mboko has lost every match she’s played at four tournaments and without winning a single set. Bianca Andreescu was once the talk of Canadian tennis after an incredible breakout season back in 2019 when she won Indian Wells, Toronto, and her first Grand Slam at the US Open as a 19-year-old. Those three titles catapulted Andreescu to become a tennis sensation, but the now 25-year-old has struggled with persistent injuries throughout her career and has yet to add to her trophy cabinet.

Andreescu has played just 24 matches in 2025, winning 13 and losing 11 times. Her best result of the season was reaching the quarterfinal of the Libema Open on grass. Andreescu marked her return from an ankle injury she suffered in Montreal at this year’s Asian swing and has played in three tournaments. She has won once in four matches.
