Ninth seed Paula Badosa will take on home favorite Katie Boulter in the first round of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships on Monday, June 30. Here’s our Paula Badosa vs Katie Boulter prediction. This preview will also include a Paula Badosa vs Katie Boulter pick.
Paula Badosa vs Katie Boulter Preview
Paula Badosa is the number nine seed at this year’s Wimbledon. This is her sixth main draw appearance. Badosa has reached the round of 16 of the grass-court major three times in the past, including last year when she upset Karolina Muchova and Daria Kasatkina to make the second week.
This season, Badosa has compiled a 17-10 record, enjoying her best result at the Australian Open in January where she was a semifinalist. Badosa has since reached three quarterfinals including this month in Berlin where she was forced to retire from her match against Xinyu Wang.
The Spaniard has been troubled with a chronic back injury in recent years and that appears to be the case this season as Badosa has either retired or withdrawn from a tournament more than three times already. She has secured two complete matches on grass coming to Wimbledon, beating Eva Lys and Emma Navarro in Berlin.
Katie Boulter, meanwhile, lost her spot as the top-ranked British woman to Emma Raducanu. Boulter has endured a mixed season and enters Wimbledon ranked 41st in the rankings. She will be unseeded. This will be her seventh main draw appearance at her home slam.
Boulter’s best results include two third-round finishes. Last year, she was knocked out in the second round by Harriet Dart. The 28-year-old has competed in two warm-up tournaments on grass. Boulter suffered a round of 16 defeat against Diana Shnaider at Queen’s. Her next tournament was in Nottingham where she fell short to win the three-peat after losing to eventual champion McCartney Kessler in the quarterfinals.
Paula Badosa vs Katie Boulter Head-To-Head
Badosa and Boulter have met once on the WTA level. That meeting was at the 2024 French Open. Badosa prevailed in three sets.
Paula Badosa vs Katie Boulter Prediction
The outcome here really depends on Badosa’s fitness. She retired from the tuneup tournament in Berlin with a hip injury and she was distraught after that. She’s had many setbacks in her career dealing with injuries before big tournaments, but her talent is undeniable. This might actually be a good time for her to play Boulter. The Briton will be feeling all the pressure to perform in front of her home crowd and she’s not having the best of seasons. A healthy Badosa should win this, but nobody really knows if her body will hold up.
