Novak Djokovic defeated countryman Miomir Kecmanovic in the last round to reach the second week of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. It was Djokovic’s 100th match win in the tournament, becoming only the third player to achieve this milestone. Djokovic completed the victory in straight sets in an hour and 50 minutes. Djokovic won the first set 6-3 in 42 minutes. In the second set, he never lost a game. In fact, from 3-3 in the first set, Djokovic won nine games, committing less than 10 unforced errors. The third set was also one-sided with Djokovic racing to lead 5-1, only for Kecmanovic to put some respect on the final score and win three more games.

Djokovic hit 60 winners and 19 unforced errors in the match. He accounted for 16 aces and three double faults. Djokovic landed 71% of first serves in play and won 82% of first serve points (40/49). He won 60% of second serve points (12/20) and only faced one break point in the whole match. Djokovic has never failed to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon since 2016 where he lost in the third round.

Alex De Minaur is coming off a straight sets win over August Holmgren. De Minaur won the first set 6-4, breaking Holmgren in the ninth game of the set and serving to 30 in the next game. De Minaur served for the second set at 5-4, only to be broken back, but won the ensuing tie-break 7-5. In the third set, only one break was needed and it was De Minaur who got it to lead 4-2. He won two more games to seal victory.

De Minaur compiled 21 winners and 10 unforced errors, including three aces and one double fault. He landed 56% of first serves in play and won 85% of first serve points (44/52). De Minaur won 63% of second serve points (26/41) and saved four of five break points. De Minaur had beaten Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets in the opening round, and the only set he dropped in the tournament so far, was to Arthur Cazaux in the second round. De Minaur is a Wimbledon quarterfinalist, which he achieved last year, but withdrew before his match against Djokovic.

Djokovic leads De Minaur 2-1 in the head-to-head. They first met at the 2023 Australian Open and Djokovic overcame the home crowd to win in straight sets. De Minaur avenged that loss at the United Cup the following season. They last met at the 2024 Monte Carlo. Djokovic won 7-5, 6-4.

Djokovic is showing remarkable efficiency in going about his business at 2025 Wimbledon. He’s 38 and moving better than most, and still producing statement wins. While this matchup never happened at last year’s tournament because of De Minaur’s injury, there shouldn’t be any concerns on Monday. There are not many brave people who would bet against Djokovic when he gets to Week 2 in this tournament, because he barely loses fourth-round matches (only loss was in 2006).
