Zhu Lin registered the biggest upset of the week as she eliminated top seed and WTA Finals aspirant Mirra Andreeva in three sets to make the quarterfinals in Ningbo for the second time in her career. The 31-year-old Chinese fought back from a set down to knock out Andreeva 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in two hours and 19 minutes.

Lin hit 2 aces and 4 double faults in the victory. She landed 70% of first serves in play and won 64% of first serve points (44/69). Lin won 48% of second serve points (14/29) and saved five of nine break points in the match.
