Lois Boisson and Viktoriya Tomova meet in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Hamburg Open. The match is scheduled for Friday, July 18. Here’s our Lois Boisson vs Viktoriya Tomova prediction. This preview will also include a Lois Boisson vs Viktoriya Tomova pick.
Lois Boisson vs Viktoriya Tomova Preview
Lois Boisson is coming off a three-set win over World No. 163 Tamara Korpatsch. The match lasted two hours and 55 minutes. Bossion won the first set 6-4, taking almost an hour to do so, overcoming a break deficit twice. Boisson trailed 2-4, but won four straight games to turn it around.
In the second set, Boisson had the match on her racket when she served for it at 5-4 up, but she lost her serve and the set went into a tiebreak. Korpatsch dominated it and won it 7-3. The German made the perfect start to the third set when she led 3-1, but Boisson came roaring back, winning five of the next six games. The Frenchwoman hit five aces and four double faults in the match. She landed 59% of first serves in play and won 63% of first serve points (44/70). Boisson won 40% of second serve points (19/48) and saved seven of 13 break points. Boisson won her opening match this week against Julia Grabher in straight sets. She is through to her first quarterfinal since the French Open. She has won 23 of 30 matches on clay this season.
Viktoriya Tomova has reached her second WTA quarterfinal of the season. The Bulgarian World No. 105 started the week with the upset of World No. 36 Tatjana Maria in straight sets. She won 6-3, 7-6. In the second round, Tomova beat Australia’s Astra Sharma 6-1, 6-1 in just over an hour. Tomova was not broken for the whole match and feasted on Sharma’s poor serving performance, winning 55% of return points (30/55) and converting five of eight break points. The win was Tomova’s fourth in 10 clay-court matches this season. Her lone WTA quarterfinal before this was on the indoor hard courts of Cluj-Napoca in early February. She had reached a quarterfinal on clay in Bari last month, but that was at the WTA 125K level.

Boisson and Tomova will meet for the first time on Friday in Hamburg.
Lois Boisson vs Viktoriya Tomova Prediction
Boisson is having to deal with sky-high expectations which tend to accompany her in these kinds of matches since that historic run at Roland Garros. If there is one thing that has instantly improved in Boisson, it is her unwavering belief, and gave plentiful evidence in that comeback win against Korpatsch in the last round. But she will be up against a hungry Tomova who has earned a handful of Top 100 wins this year and regards clay as her strongest surface. It is a realistic possibility that Tomova will topple the French Open semifinalist, and the plus money makes her a live underdog here.
