Lois Boisson and Anna Bondar meet in the final of the 2025 Hamburg Open. The match is scheduled for Sunday, July 20. Here’s our Lois Boisson vs Anna Bondar prediction. This preview will also include a Lois Boisson vs Anna Bondar pick.
Lois Boisson vs Anna Bondar Preview
Lois Boisson reached her first career final at WTA level. Boisson started the week at the Hamburg Open with a straight sets win over Julia Grabher. In the second round, she lost her only set in the tournament against Tamara Korpatsch, but prevailed 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in two hours and 55 minutes. In the quarterfinal, Boisson beat Vitkoriya Tomova 6-3, 6-3.
The World No. 63 withstood her toughest hurdle so far against World No. 39 Dayana Yastremska in the semifinal. Boisson raced to take the first set 6-1 in 29 minutes. She looked on her way to a straight sets win when she broke Yastremska early on in the second set and established a 5-3 lead. She couldn’t serve for the match at 5-4 and needed a tense tie-break to clinch it in straight sets. Boisson hit three aces and one double fault in the match. She landed 66% of first serves in play and won 64% of first serve points (29/45). Boisson won 70% of second serve points (16/23) and only faced one break point in the match. Boisson will rise to inside the Top 60 and can make her Top 50 debut if she wins the title.
Meeting her in the championship match in Hamburg will be Anna Bondar. The 28-year-old Hungarian is ranked 14 spots below Boisson at No. 77. Bondar will also contest her first final at this level, although she won the Hamburg title at the 125K level last year.
Bondar has navigated a slightly tougher route to reach the final. She started the week with a marathon three-hour match against Noma Noha Akugue, prevailing in a third-set tie-break. Her only straight sets win was against Sinja Kraus in the second round. The biggest shock was definitely in the quarterfinals when Bondar upset World No. 16 Ekaterina Alexandrova from a set down and escaped with another final-set tie-break victory. She was the slight underdog against Kaja Juvan in the semis, but Bondar defied the odds again, rallying from a set down to win 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and 19 minutes. She improves to 22-7 on clay this season. Bondar will rise 18 spots to 59th if she finishes runner-up and could move up to 55th if she takes home the title.
Lois Boisson vs Anna Bondar Head-To-Head
Boisson and Bondar have never met at any level, but played twice on the ITF level. Boisson beat Bondar to win the 2024 Bellinzona ITF final before the Hungarian prevailed in their rematch in Chiasso.
Lois Boisson vs Anna Bondar Prediction
One of Boisson or Bondar will leave Hamburg with their first WTA title. Bondar is more seasoned with years of playing experience and winning so many titles on the lower levels. But the scales weigh heavily in favor of Boisson for sure. She’s been a revelation on clay this season, with her ability to neutralize the opponent’s strongest wing paying dividends. If she channels the slice and the balls land deep inside the court, Bondar might struggle to find her spots. And it would be a fitting way for Boisson to get her hands on the title after that Cinderella run at Roland Garros.
