Flavio Cobolli reached his first ATP semifinal of the season in Bucharest. The Italian defeated Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic in two tight sets to progress. The match took 23 games to decide. He was struggling with a quad issue during the match, and despite taking a medical timeout, Martinez was unable to finish the match. In the victory, Dzumhur hit 18 winners and nine unforced errors. He accounted for one double fault.

Dzumhur tallied 63% of return points (20/32) and broke Martinez’s serve four times. This was Dzumhur’s 20th win of the season at all levels, including 10 on clay. He has reached the semifinal in each of his last three tournaments and his first in Bucharest.
