Damir Dzumhur Preview
Damir Dzumhur earned a retirement win over Spain’s Pedro Martinez. Dzumhur led 6-1, 2-0 under an hour when Martinez retired because of an injury. He was struggling with a quad issue during the match, and despite taking a medical timeout, Martinez was unable to finish the match. In the victory, Dzumhur hit 18 winners and nine unforced errors. He accounted for one double fault.
Dzumhur landed 65% of first serves in play and won 65% of first serve points (17/26). The Bosnian won 57% of second serve points (8/14) and saved all five breakpoints he faced in the match. Dzumhur tallied 63% of return points (20/32) and broke Martinez’s serve four times. This was Dzumhur’s 20th win of the season at all levels, including 10 on clay. He has reached the semifinal in each of his last three tournaments and his first in Bucharest.

Â
Flavio Cobolli vs Damir Dzumhur Prediction
This is a much tighter semifinal to predict the outcome, but you’d be brave to bet against the relentless Bosnian. Dzumhur is a workhorse on clay, with very reliable footwork, and does a better job at moving his opponents around the court with every swing. Cobolli is still prone to regular moments of inconsistency and fluctuating levels of excellence and might not be a reliable pick to win this match on the money line. That said, I’m siding with the proven clay-court pedigree.
