The Line: Betting Odds: Emma Navarro / Alycia Parks
Top seed Emma Navarro will face fellow American Alycia Parks in the second round of the 2025 Monterrey Open. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20. Here’s our Emma Navarro vs Alycia Parks prediction. This preview will also include an Emma Navarro vs Alycia Parks pick.
Emma Navarro vs Alycia Parks Preview
Emma Navarro is the top seed at the Monterrey Open. The American chose not to participate in the US Open Mixed Doubles tournament, where she was scheduled to partner with men’s World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Navarro’s inconsistent form in the two WTA 1000s in North America might have impacted that decision, with the 24-year-old opting to return to Mexico for the second time.
Navarro won her biggest WTA title earlier this season, competing in Mexico, where she lifted the WTA 500 in Merida. This will be her fourth appearance in Monterrey. Navarro achieved her best result in this tournament last season, reaching the semifinal and losing to eventual champion Linda Noskova. Navarro has one win in her last five matches and recently lost her spot in the world’s Top 10.
Alycia Parks has already got her campaign in Monterrey off to a winning start. The big-serving Parks is coming off a straight-sets win over Cristina Bucsa of Spain. The match took 15 games to decide and lasted 62 minutes. Parks hammered nine aces and two double faults in the victory. She landed 57% of first serves in play and won 83% of first serve points (20/24). Parks won 67% of second serve points (12/18) and did not face a break point. Parks is ranked 71st in the WTA rankings and is making her debut in Monterrey. She snapped her three-match losing streak and only won her 15th match of the season.
Emma Navarro vs Alycia Parks Head-To-Head
Navarro and Parks have never met on the WTA Tour, but played once on the ITF on clay. Navarro won the match in three sets.
Emma Navarro vs Alycia Parks Prediction
This is a tough opener for Navarro for a couple of reasons. She’s been wildly inconsistent lately, which is so unlike her, especially at this time of the season, when she is expected to record some good results. That’s not been the case, and her late decision to play in Monterrey is an indication she’s far from happy with her form (1 win in 5).
Parks was also in dismal form coming to Monterrey, but put in a tremendous performance against the tricky qualifier, Bucsa. That should lift her spirits against Navarro, and Parks is more than capable of emulating such serving numbers in this match. But with Navarro desperate for wins, maybe the top seed will find a way.
