Gauff is a rock-solid defender, and she matches up well with the Russian’s weight of shot. She can cover the court with a few steps and reach near-certain winners and return with depth. Moreover, Gauff has a more complete game than Andreeva at this stage of their careers and will pounce on the teenager’s weaker serve. I still expect Andreeva to challenge, potentially even taking a set, but fall just short in the end.
