Andrey Rublev is the 14^th seed and reached the Wimbledon third round with a pair of four-set wins. Rublev started the week beating Serbia’s Laslo Djere 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, which in itself was an improvement from last year when he lost at the first hurdle.

In the second round, Rublev knocked out World No. 320 Lloyd Harris 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in just under three hours. Rublev withstood 25 aces from the big-serving South African. He hit 42 winners and 27 unforced errors. That included 12 aces and six double faults. Rublev landed 68% of first serves in play and won 88% of first serve points (71/81). He won 58% of second serve points (22/38) and saved three of four break points. Rublev will be seeking a spot in the fourth round of Wimbledon for the third time in his career. He is a former quarterfinalist. Rublev improves to 3-1 on grass this season, excluding exhibitions.
 
Adrian Mannarino, ranked outside the Top 100, is coming off a four-set win over countryman Valentin Royer. Mannarino won the first two sets 6-4, 6-4 in under two hours. But after wasting two break points that would have enabled him to serve for the match at 4-4, he lost the third set 5-7. Still, it was the veteran who came out on top in the fourth set tie-break, winning it 7-1.
 
Mannarino posted some exceptional numbers in the victory. He hit 45 winners and 32 unforced errors, including 18 aces and only two double faults. Mannarino landed 60% of first serves and won 86% of first serve points (67/78). He saved three of four break points in the match. This will be the first time Mannarino has reached the third round of Wimbledon since 2018. His best result at the grass-court Grand Slam is reaching the fourth round three times. Mannarino has now compiled 10 wins on the surface this swing, with five coming at Wimbledon (three in qualifying).

With all the upsets happening this week, I still think this version of Rublev will avoid defeat here. The Russian has been cool, calm and collected in reaching the third round. But make no mistake about this being a straightforward round for Rublev. Mannarino is tough as nails on grass and throws off your timing on the surface with flat strokes and a rhythmic pace. That said, the most the Frenchman can get here is a set.
