Top seed Alexander Zverev faces Taylor Fritz in a marquee semifinal at the ATP Halle Open on Saturday, June 20. Zverev has not beaten a Top 10 player this season, but most importantly, he has not beaten Fritz in their last six matches. The German can achieve both goals at once on Saturday. On that note, here’s our Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz prediction. This article will also contain an Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz pick.

Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Preview

Alexander Zverev won his 10th match in a row to reach the Halle Open semifinals for the fourth consecutive season. Zverev beat Belgian qualifier Raphael Collignon in straight sets. However, there was nothing straightforward about the match, with Zverev needing to dig deep to beat the soon-to-be Top 50 player. In the first set, Zverev had to save three set points in a dramatic tiebreak, which finished 12-10 in his favor. The second set was also settled in a tiebreak, but Zverev had a bigger lead throughout and wrapped up the victory in two hours.

Zverev hit 14 aces in the match and did not commit a single double fault. Zverev landed 76% of first serves in play and won 82% of first serve points (50/61). Zverev won 79% of second serve points (15/19). He faced just one break point in the match and saved it. Zverev has reached two finals in Halle, but that was nearly a decade ago.

Taylor Fritz avenged his loss to Ben Shelton in the Stuttgart final but beating his compatriot in a hard-fought three-set match in Halle. This is a massive improvement from Fritz, who had never won a match in Halle before this week. Their match was also tight and needed three tiebreak sets. Fritz prevailed 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in almost three hours. Fritz saved a match point deep in the second set tiebreak

Fritz hammered 24 aces and 1 double fault in the victory. Fritz landed 78% of first serves in play and won 80% of first serve points (74/93). Fritz won 63% of second serve points (17/27) and saved four break points on his serve. Fritz is looking to reach back-to-back finals on grass after losing out to Shelton in Stuttgart a week ago.

Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Head-To-Head

Zverev and Fritz have met 14 times in competitive matches. Fritz holds a 9-5 lead in the head-to-head and has beaten Zverev in each of their last six matches. Zverev last beat Fritz at the 2024 Rome Masters. Zverev, however, leads 2-1 on grass.

Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Prediction

The last thing Zverev would have wanted this week was a matchup against Fritz. He trails 5-9 in the head-to-head and has drawn a blank in their last six matches. But I think it’s about time Zverev addressed his recent poor record against Fritz. It’s quite astounding that he’s not beaten a Top 10 player this season, but he would achieve a great deal of satisfaction of doing so for the first time on Saturday. And right now, expectations are beginning to feel like motivation rather than pressure for Zverev. I’m backing him to get over the line.

Nur Said's Pick: Zverev in three sets
