Fourth seed Alexander Zverev will play 13th seed Holger Rune in the fourth round of the 2024 French Open. The match is scheduled for Monday, June 3, 2024. Here's our Alexander Zverev vs Holger Rune prediction.
Alexander Zverev vs Holger Rune Preview
Alexander Zverev beat Tallon Griekspoor 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, and it took over four hours to decide. It was the German fourth seed's toughest match of the 2024 French Open so far. Zverev served 11 aces to five double faults. He landed 75% of first serves and won 70% (80/115) of points behind it. Zverev's second delivery was at 55% (21/38). He saved six of 10 break points and recovered from a double break in the fifth set to win a 10-point tie-break. The World No. 4 has lost in the fourth-round stage once before in Paris, in 2020, but has reached three semifinals since at the clay major.
Holger Rune, for his part, is seeking to reach his third successive quarterfinal at the French Open. The Dane took down Slovakian lucky loser Jozef Kovalik 7-5, 6-1, 7-6, which required nearly two hours of court time. Rune has also played one five-setter to reach the second week, coming back from 0-5 down in the final-set tie-break to defeat Flavio Cobolli of Italy in the second round.
Alexander Zverev vs Holger Rune Head-To-Head
• Rune leads Zverev 1-0 in their head-to-head on the ATP Tour.
• The Dane defeated Zverev at the 2022 Munich Open on clay in straight sets.
• Zverev is 13-3 on clay this season, while Rune is 9-4 on the dirt in 2024.
Alexander Zverev vs Holger Rune Prediction
Zverev is in red-hot form and enters this match with loads of confidence after beating 14-time champion Rafael Nadal and overcoming Tallon Griekspoor while trailing by a double break in the fifth set. Rune has underperformed coming to the 2024 French Open, and he is slightly fortunate to get a very kind draw in the first week (no opponent ranked in the Top 50). With that said, this has the potential to be one of the best matches of the tournament, with a slight edge going to the in-form fourth seed.
