Fourth seed and former finalist Alexander Zverev will face 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinal of the 2024 Miami Open. The match will be played on Friday, March 29, 2024. Here's our Alexander Zverev vs Grigor Dimitrov prediction.
Alexander Zverev
With much of the spotlight shining on his more accomplished peers, the pressure has been taken off Alexander Zverev, who has played so well during the two weeks at the Miami Open. The German ended the fairytale run of Hungary's magic man, Fabian Marozsan, with a brilliant serving performance. He hammered six aces to zero double faults. Zverev also fended off the two break points he faced on his big delivery. The fourth seed converted three of seven break points to run away with the match and reach just his second semifinal in Florida. The only other time he advanced to this stage was in 2018, during the tournament's last staging in Key Biscayne. He made the final that year, losing to John Isner.
Grigor Dimitrov
Grigor Dimitrov was a massive underdog in his section of the draw but pulled off arguably the upset of the tournament by beating Indian Wells champion Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. It was one of the most masterful performances of Dimitrov's career. He was in full flight behind the return, with his sumptuous return winner to break at the start of the second set, summing up his exceptional display. Alcaraz told reporters after the match he felt like he was 13, which was the highest level of praise the Bulgarian could have gotten, and you can't dispute that. Let's see if he can replicate the same level and get the same result in the semis.
Alexander Zverev vs Grigor Dimitrov Head-To-Head
Zverev leads Dimitrov 7-1 in tour-lvel meetings. The Bulgarian's solitary win in the series was ten years ago in Basel when Zverev was still a teenager.
Alexander Zverev vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction
The head-to-head makes for awful reading for Dimitrov and his supporters, but he's got no reason to feel downbeat about it, especially after such an all-attacking and fabulous performance to beat Carlos Alcaraz. Zverev will be wary of the threat the one-hander possesses when he is operating at full flight. But the German's biggest asset, which is his serve, has been holding up nicely under pressure. Zverev also has a very reliable backhand when dealing with Dimitrov's dextrous slices. When he is playing this well, Zverev usually wins, and we are not going against the grain here.
