Paraguay recorded 17 total shots, 12 shots on target, and had 72% of the possession. Paraguay has played two other friendlies this year: a 2-1 loss to Morocco and a 1-0 win over Greece. 

Paraguay has qualified for eight World Cups in their history, but they have not qualified since 2010. In 2010, Paraguay had their best finish in World Cup history by making the Quarter-finals. Paraguay drew Italy 1-1, defeated Slovakia 2-0, and drew New Zealand 0-0 in group play, before beating Japan in penalties and losing to Spain 1-0 in the knockout rounds. In World Cup qualifying, Paraguay finished sixth in the standings with 28 points, but they were tied with three other teams on points.

USA comes into this matchup with high expectations and the momentum from being a host country, but they have not played a competitive match in about a year. USA has defeated Paraguay in their last three matches by scores of 2-1, 1-0, and 1-0, but they weren’t great in their friendlies this year. Paraguay has won three of their last four matches, but I am worried about their offense, as they scored just 14 goals in their 18 qualification games. I thought USA did a good job of generating chances against Germany and Pulisic looked dangerous, so I am going to back them to win here.
