Edmonton Oilers vs Buffalo Sabres Prediction 3/10/25 NHL Picks

Oilers at Sabres at 7 PM ET

The Edmonton Oilers approach this contest after a recent 5-4 triumph against the Dallas Stars, bringing their overall record to 37-22-4 for the season. Leon Draisaitl stands out as the top scorer for the Oilers, with a total of 95 points, which includes 46 goals and 49 assists. Connor McDavid contributes significantly as well, with 81 points, consisting of 24 goals and 57 assists. Furthermore, Evan Bouchard has tallied 50 points, featuring 11 goals and 39 assists, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has achieved 39 points, including 16 goals and 23 assists this season. Zach Hyman has also added 37 points, with 22 goals to his name. In terms of goaltending, Calvin Pickard has a record of 15-7, with a 2.76 GAA and an .896 save percentage, while Stuart Skinner has posted a record of 22-15-4, with a 2.87 GAA and an .897 save percentage.

The Buffalo Sabres enter this matchup seeking to recover from their recent 4-0 defeat against the Florida Panthers, bringing their season record to 24-32-6. Leading the team in scoring is Tage Thompson, who has accumulated 54 points, comprising 31 goals and 23 assists. Close behind him is Alex Tuch, with 48 points, including 24 goals and 24 assists. JJ Peterka and Rasmus Dahlin both have 51 points, with Peterka contributing 19 goals and 32 assists, while Dahlin has 11 goals and 40 assists. Additionally, Jason Zucker has recorded 44 points, featuring 18 goals and 26 assists. In goal, Devon Levi holds a record of 2-7, with a GAA of 4.12 and a save percentage of .872. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has a record of 20-20-4, with a GAA of 3.14 and a save percentage of .890. James Reimer’s record stands at 2-5-2, with a GAA of 2.68 and a save percentage of .903.

The Pick:

The challenge facing Buffalo lies in their inability to generate points offensively, coupled with a lackluster defensive performance. In contrast, Edmonton boasts a formidable offense, and it is difficult to envision Buffalo presenting a significant challenge in this matchup. Therefore, I favor Edmonton in this contest.

Detroit Red Wings vs Ottawa Senators Prediction 3/10/25 NHL Picks

Red Wings at Senators at 7:30 PM ET

The Detroit Red Wings have recently lost to both Utah and the Capitals. The team is averaging 2.83 goals per game and has a power play conversion rate of 28.7 percent. Alex DeBrincat leads the team with 29 goals, while Lucas Raymond has tallied 43 assists, and Dylan Larkin has recorded 201 shots on goal. On the defensive front, the Red Wings are allowing an average of 3.21 goals per game and are successfully killing 70.1 percent of their opponents’ power plays. In terms of goaltending statistics, Cam Talbot has surrendered 100 goals on 993 shots faced, while Alex Lyon has allowed 60 goals on 599 shots.

The Ottawa Senators secured victories against both the Blackhawks and the Rangers. Currently, the Senators are averaging 2.85 goals per game and successfully converting 22.8 percent of their power play chances. Brady Tkachuk is the team’s leading scorer with 26 goals, while Tim Stutzle contributes significantly with 45 assists, and Thomas Chabot has recorded 143 shots on goal. On the defensive side, the Senators permit an average of 2.85 goals per game and have a penalty kill rate of 76.9 percent against their opponents’ power plays. Linus Ullmark has conceded 79 goals from 860 shots faced, whereas Anton Forsberg has allowed 57 goals from 545 shots.

The Pick:

Following two successive overtime victories, the Senators are likely to experience a surge in confidence. They also boast an impressive home record of 18-9-2 and have secured seven wins in their last ten matchups against the Red Wings. The current performance of the Red Wings leaves much to be desired. Consequently, I will favor the Senators and choose the puck line to lower the expense.

Blackhawks vs Avalanche Prediction 3/10/25 NHL Picks

Blackhawks at Avalanche at 9 PM ET

The Chicago Blackhawks’ current record stands at 20-35-9 after their latest game, in which they lost to Nashville in overtime with a final score of 3-2. The team managed to tie the game at two goals late in the third period, but ultimately allowed Stamkos to score the decisive goal in overtime. Throughout the match, the Blackhawks were outshot by a margin of 41 to 19, achieved a face-off win percentage of 37.7%, and were unsuccessful on three power-play attempts. Goals were netted by Mikheyev and Vlasic, while Soderblom recorded 38 saves from 41 shots faced.

This season, the Colorado Avalanche have achieved a record of 38-24-2 after their latest triumph against Toronto, which ended with a score of 7-4. The team found themselves trailing 4-2 in the second period but managed to score the last five goals of the game to secure the victory. Colorado outperformed Toronto in shots, totaling 34 compared to 21, won 35.7% of face-offs, and successfully converted 1 of 3 power play chances. The scoring for the Avalanche included contributions from Drouin, Kiviranta, MacKinnon (who scored twice), and Nichushkin (who scored three times), while Blackwood recorded 17 saves out of 21 shots.

The Pick:

The Avalanche’s home performance this year stands at 21-10-2, while the Blackhawks have struggled significantly on the road with a record of 7 wins, 20 losses, and 5 overtime losses. Chicago has been relatively competitive in their recent outings over the past two weeks, yet their road statistics remain dismal. In their last game, the Blackhawks were overpowered by the Predators, although they did receive excellent goaltending, which allowed them to secure a point in overtime. The Colorado team is currently in excellent form, but the value of the Avalanche appears limited. I will consider the over, as Colorado’s offense has been prolific in recent matches.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Utah Hockey Club Prediction 3/10/25 NHL Picks

Maple Leafs at Hockey Club at 10 PM ET

The Toronto Maple Leafs experienced their strongest performance of the season, achieving five consecutive wins. However, they have recently faced a downturn, suffering three straight losses to the Sharks, Golden Knights, and Avalanche, during which they conceded a total of 12 goals in the last two matches. The team will conclude a three-game road trip with this contest in Utah before returning home for a four-game homestand. Currently, the Maple Leafs hold the second position in the Atlantic Division standings with 79 points, trailing the Florida Panthers by four points. This season, they average 3.21 goals per game, ranking 10th, while allowing 2.95 goals per game, placing them 15th.

The Utah Hockey Club has returned to their home arena after a two-game road trip, where they achieved a victory over the Red Wings but faced an overtime defeat against the Blackhawks. Prior to this trip, the team was on a commendable three-game winning streak, having bested the Canucks, Blackhawks, and Wild, conceding only one goal in each of those matches. Currently, the Hockey Club is positioned 6th in the Central Division Standings with 66 points, which places them 26 points behind the Winnipeg Jets, who are at the top. The team averages 2.83 goals scored per game, ranking 20th in the league, while their goals-against average stands at 2.94, placing them 13th.

The Pick:

To date, these teams have clashed only once this season, with the Maple Leafs securing a narrow 3-2 victory in that early matchup. In their last eight games, six have gone Over for Toronto, and similarly, five of the Maple Leafs’ last six games on the road have also exceeded the total goals. Despite the fact that Utah’s recent home games have not yielded many goals, I am optimistic that the Hockey Club and the Maple Leafs will collectively score at least six goals on Monday. The Toronto Maple Leafs have recorded the Game Total Over in 26 out of their last 45 away games. Consequently, I am in favor of the Over.

Oliver Zivic's Pick: Blackhawks at Avalanche Over 6.5
