The Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets meet Sunday in NFL action from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Here’s a Raiders vs Jets prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Raiders vs Jets pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

Las Vegas Raiders Betting Preview

The Raiders were looking good early in the season but they’ve since hit the skids. Vegas beat the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints in their first three games. Since then it’s been losses to the Chiefs, Patriots, Bills and Rams in succession. Over the first seven games that gives the Raiders a 3-4 overall record.

In the Rams game last weekend the Raiders coughed up four touchdowns in the first half while only managing to notch two field goals themselves for a 28-6 deficit at the break. Las Vegas got better in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough for a comeback in a 35-21 loss. QB Kirk Cousins was 26-of-44 for 295 yards and two scores during the losing effort.

New York Jets Betting Preview

Over on the Jets’ side, they seem headed toward yet another lost season. New York was able to beat the Tennessee Titans in their opener but since then they’ve only been able to beat the Cleveland Browns. Otherwise it’s been losses to the Packers, Lions, Bears, Patriots and Dolphins. Over seven outings that gives New York a 2-5 record in the books.

Matched up against the rival Dolphins last weekend the Jets were down 21-7 after giving up three touchdowns in the first half. New York rallied from there to cut the lead to 21-17 but couldn’t make the comeback complete in a 28-25 loss. QB Geno Smith put up 287 yards, three scores and a pick on 23-of-30 passing during the losing effort for the Jets.

Raiders vs Jets Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Raiders but there’s not much to like here at all. Las Vegas only held the ball for 25:46 of game time in the loss to the Rams, eventually mustering 350 total yards and 18 first downs. The defense gave up 28 first downs and 386 yards on the other side. Across this current four-game losing streak, the Raiders have surrendered at least 30 points in every outing.

As for the Jets, they gave up 24 first downs and 360 total yards without a takeaway in the loss to the Dolphins. New York’s offense put up 19 first downs and 377 yards on the other side but couldn’t keep the pace. The 28 points was the most the Jets have given up all season outside of 31 versus the Lions. It’s hard telling what they’ll look like here but I don’t think they’ll dominate the game in any aspect.
