Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

Philadelphia started out the year with a couple of close wins then lost the handle in game three. The Eagles eked one out against the pesky Washington Commanders 24-22 in the opener, then notched another close victory versus Tennessee 24-20 from there. In the matchup with the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia recorded their first loss of the year 27-7 to start out 2-1.

In the matchup versus the LA Rams, the Eagles played quite well in the first half, surging to a 20-10 lead. That’s where the score stayed until the final quarter, when Philly gave up a couple of touchdowns for a 24-20 loss in the end. QB Jalen Hurts was 12-of-27 for 93 yards and two scores. Darius Cooper caught both TDs among his three grabs for 33 yards as well.

Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview

Over on the Jags’ side, they’ve been looking pretty solid overall in the early-going. Jacksonville rolled right past Cleveland in their opener 34-10—the Browns’ only loss so far. The Jaguars would then take a tough loss 20-13 versus the Denver Broncos in game two, but then bounced back with a nice win over the New England Patriots 35-6 for a 2-1 start through three.

Matched up against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Jaguars managed a couple of field goals and a TD in the first half for a 13-3 edge. Cincinnati got a late score but Jacksonville was still able to hang on for the road win 22-17 in the end. QB Trevor Lawrence was 18-of-23 for 227 yards and a touchdown. Brenton Strange caught seven balls for 95 yards as the leading receiver in the win.

Eagles vs Jaguars Prediction

I’ll stay with the Jags. Jacksonville seems to be overachieving in the early-going this year and they’re looking very much like a playoff team. In the win over the Bengals, the Jaguars made some mistakes—namely the 13 penalties for 125 yards—but overall kept things going pretty well. The defense did give up 437 yards and 26 first downs but the two takeaways and 11 Cincinnati penalties for 108 yards certainly helped.

As for the Eagles, they managed just 12 first downs and a futile 0-of-12 on third-down tries in their home loss to the Rams. The 10 penalties for 57 yards didn’t help either. Philadelphia gave up 415 yards and 26 first downs on defense but did get a couple of picks. The Eagles aren’t playing great over the last couple of games but they’re a better team than that.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars -7
